Israeli policemen storm Bab al-Rahma cemetery in O. J’lem
Picture
Heavily-armed Israeli policemen violently stormed Saturday Bab al-Rahma cemetery adjacent to the eastern wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Earlier Saturday, Palestinian youths from Silwan town started since the early morning hours cleaning the cemetery.

The cleaning campaign came in response to the Israeli systematic targeting of the Islamic historical cemetery, most recently was the demolition of four graves under the pretext of being built without Israeli permit.

Israeli Authorities to Erect Stone Checkpoint at Ibrahimi Mosque Entrance
Picture
Israeli forces are installing a stone checkpoint at the entrance of the Ibrahimi Mosque to restrict Palestinians from entering it, to visit and  to pray.

As the Hebron Rehabilitation Committee’s General Manager, Imad Hamdan, illustrated, the new checkpoint will be made of stone in a permanent-style, in front of the historic holy site, which will affect the fabric of the building and the community.

This development came from the Israeli Shamghar committee which also recommended the division of the mosque into two parts following the massacre of Palestinians in the Ibrahimi Mosque in 1994.

Subsequent to the division of the mosque, the holy site fell under tight control by Israeli security and surveillance. These developments were catastrophic to Palestinians and to the old city, as it is a religiously, historically and culturally significant. It is the Palestinian Authority’s responsibility to defend, maintain and combat Israeli policies aimed at colonizing the Ibrahimi Mosque and Palestinian lands.

Checkpoints are used by the Israeli military to deter Palestinian residents from coming to and living in the Old City of Hebron, to restrict their movements and devastate the rights of the local population. Military checkpoints around the Ibrahimi Mosque are placed strategically by Israeli forces to expel Muslim devotees from the area and increase Israeli presence, in and around the mosque.

In the Old City of Hebron, 18 checkpoints currently exist, in addition to more than 130 other access restrictions, which the Israeli military claim are in place in order to provide “security” to the 600 illegal settlers living in the city center and the thousands living nearby.

However, in actuality, checkpoints are one of many tools used by the Israeli military to humiliate the local Palestinian population, appropriate large portions of Hebron’s Old City, and create a closure and expansion policy to ensure Jewish-only areas.

Hebron Rehabilitation Committee (HRC) deplores Israeli plans to further oppress the local Palestinian population by installing a new checkpoint in Hebron’s Old City, near the holy site of the Ibrahimi Mosque.

HRC has called upon diplomats, UN representatives, and NGOs to use all means available to pressure the Israeli government to halt plans to install another checkpoint, abide by international laws and recognize the human rights of Palestinians.

Thousands of Jewish settlers defile Ibrahimi Mosque overnight
Picture
A huge number of Jewish settlers desecrated after midnight Friday the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil city under military protection.

According to Maariv newspaper, thousands of settlers aboard 120 buses escorted by Israeli troops entered the Old City of al-Khalil and performed rituals overnight at the Ibrahimi Mosque.

The Islamic Waqf authority in al-Khalil had previously warned against Israeli moves aimed at fully controlling the Mosque.

In 1972, the Israeli occupation state allowed Jewish settlers to perform rituals in a designated part of the Mosque before it dared to divide it between Muslim and Jews in 1994 following the gruesome massacre of Muslim worshipers by a Jewish terrorist.

In addition, Israel prevents Muslims from performing prayers and reciting ِAdhan (call to prayers) at the Ibrahimi Mosque during the Jewish holidays.

IOA shrinks number of worshipers leaving Gaza for Friday prayer
Picture
The Israeli occupation authority (IOA) on Friday morning decided to reduce the number of Gaza elderly people allowed to travel to Jerusalem for the Friday prayer.

About 300 elderly men and women were supposed to leave Gaza for Jerusalem today, but only half of them were allowed to travel through the Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.

The Hebrew radio said the IOA also decided to decrease the number of Gazan passengers who apply for travel abroad through Jordan from 100 to 80 persons per week, including patients and students.

A limited number of businessmen from Gaza will also be given travel permits, according to Israel's new travel and movement restrictions imposed on the Palestinians in general.

Spokesman for the Palestinian ministry of civil affairs Mohamed al-Maqademah said that the IOA justified the measure by saying that many passengers from Gaza do not travel on the same day to their destinations.

Maqademah explained that some Gaza worshipers and passengers take advantage of their presence in the West Bank or Jerusalem to visit their relatives, so they postpone their travel for another day. He condemned the Israeli measure as "part of Israel's mass punishment policy against the Palestinians in Gaza."

Israel to carry out settlement projects along light rail line in Jerusalem
Picture
Israel's Jerusalem district planning and construction committee on Wednesday approved a plan to carry out huge settlement projects along the path of the light rail in the occupied holy city.

According to the Hebrew website Reshet Bet, the project will include the construction of hotels, shopping centers, complexes, shops and tower buildings.

Head of Israel's municipal council Nir Barkat said that thousands of new housing units would be built as part of this project, which would also expand the commercial and hotel area along the sides of the rail's routes.

The light rail line runs from Occupied Jerusalem to Beit Hanina, crossing a distance of about 13 kilometers.

Officers and settlers defile Aqsa Mosque under police guard
Picture
Groups of Israeli officers and settlers on Wednesday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque's courtyards under police escort.

Local sources reported that the Israeli police allowed several Shin Bet officers and Jewish settlers to enter the Mosque through al-Maghariba Gate and tour its courtyards.

Earlier, a separate group of about 12 settlers escorted by policemen toured the Islamic holy shrine.

Some settlers tried provocatively to perform Jewish rituals during their tours, which provoked Muslim worshipers into chanting religious slogans loudly as an expression of anger over their desecration of the Islamic holy place.

Eyewitnesses said that policemen detained a Palestinian young man at the Aqsa Mosque and interrogated him before letting him go.

Israeli authorities raze graves in Muslim cemetery near Aqsa Mosque
Picture
Officials from Israel's antiquities authority and nature and parks authority on Tuesday afternoon desecrated under police protection the Muslim cemetery of Bab al-Rahma near the Aqsa Mosque and razed three graves.

The Islamic Waqf authority said the Israeli officials claimed they had official orders to demolish graves in the cemetery. It added that two graves and another one under construction were removed, affirming that the land of the cemetery is an Islamic endowed land and the Israeli authorities have no right to it.

Consequently, skirmishes broke out between policemen and Palestinian citizens at the cemetery.

Tafakji: Annexing Ma'aleh Adumim isolates Jerusalem from projected Palestinian State
Picture
Khalil al-Tafakji, head of the maps department at the Arab Studies Society, warned of the seriousness of annexing Ma'aleh Adumim settlement to Israel.

“It isolates Jerusalem from the projected state of Palestine”, he said. In an interview with the PIC, Tafakji said that annexing Ma'aleh Adumim along with Gosh Etzion, and Givat Zeev settlements raises the number of Israeli settlers in Occupied Jerusalem and confiscates 10% of the West Bank's area.

This splits up the West Bank into two separate parts which can be connected by those settlements only, he underlined.

Tafakji added that the Israeli decision aims at increasing the number of the Jewish population in Occupied Jerusalem so that the establishment of a Palestinian political entity in east Jerusalem will be impossible.

If the project of annexing Ma'aleh Adumim is approved, the Israeli occupation authorities will be able to carry out large-scale construction works in that settlement.

Israeli Knesset in the eighties of the past century approved two new laws that annexed Occupied Jerusalem and the occupied Golan Heights. Both laws, however, run contrary to the international law and they are not recognized by any state in the world.

New settler groups storm al-Aqsa Mosque
Picture
New settler groups stormed Tuesday morning al-Aqsa Mosque via the Israeli-controlled al-Magharibeh gate amid heavy police protection.

A number of the Israeli settlers tried to perform Talmudic rituals in the al-Aqsa compound which led to a state of tension among Palestinian worshipers.

On the other hand, Israeli police continued to prevent a number of Jerusalemite women from having access to al-Aqsa for allegedly being involved in protests against settlers’ presence in the holy shrine.

Tension remained high in and around al-Aqsa Mosque since early October 2015 after Israeli police repeatedly stormed the site and restricted Palestinians’ access into it, while allowing large numbers of settlers to access the holy site under heavy protection.

For Muslims, al-Aqsa represents the world's third holiest site. Jews, for their part, refer to the area as the "Temple Mount," claiming it was the site of two Jewish temples in ancient times. Israel occupied the city of Jerusalem during the 1967 war.

It later annexed the city in 1980, claiming it as the capital of the “Jewish state” in a move never recognized by the international community.

Lieberman Vows to Improve Checkpoints, Enforces Apartheid System
Picture
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday, said that Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Lieberman’s visit to Hizma checkpoint and vows to ease the travel process is an enforcement of the apartheid system in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.

Lieberman, on Sunday, visited Hizma checkpoint into Jerusalem and promised to “streamline passage at West Bank crossings into Jerusalem, thereby easing the process for Palestinians who travel daily into the capital,” said The Times of Israel, according to WAFA.

The new Israeli defense minister said he visited the checkpoint to see for himself the difficulties facing those who use it, but the foreign ministry said the visit is simply an attempt to reinforce the existence of checkpoints, which disconnect the West Bank, facilitate Israeli settlers’ movement at the expense of Palestinians and connect illegal settlements with Israel.

Lieberman only visited Hizma checkpoint, but also addressed the situation at the biggest checkpoint in the West Bank Qalandia, through which tens of thousands of Palestinians cross daily on foot and by car.

“The problems at the Hizme and Qalandiya checkpoints, which plague residents of Jerusalem, the Binyamin Council, and Palestinians in the region, have clear solutions, both administrative and infrastructural,” Lieberman said.

However, the ministry said Lieberman tries to deceive the world by discussing “facilities for Israeli settlers and Palestinians” and neglects his repetitive Apartheid statements, which aim to create separate roads for illegal Israeli settlers and Palestinians on roads in the West Bank.

Since officially being appointed Israel’s minister of defense, Lieberman enforced several lengthy closures on towns and villages around Hebron and other Palestinians cities.

Over the years, hundreds of dunams of land belonging to Palestinians have been permanently confiscated from Palestinian owners to open new roads for the sole use of Israeli settlers in addition to hundreds of checkpoints, which obstruct movement.

The ministry condemned the Israeli policy, which aims to expand and take over Palestinians’ property and called on the international community to intervene and force Israel to cease its measures, which would eventually destroy the two-state solution and enforce occupation, settlements and the Apartheid system in the occupied Palestinian territories.

Born in Moldova, Avigdor Lieberman is one of the only foreign ministers in the world who does not live in territory officially recognized as his own country.

Originally under suspicion over charges of money-laundering and bribery, Lieberman was formally indicted in December of 2012, on lesser charges of fraud and breach of trust.

His party was recently the focus of a corruption probe within the Israeli political spectrum, and, more recently, Lieberman’s life was threatened with an assassination attempt.

IOF arrests two Palestinians at the Aqsa Mosque
Picture
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) arrested on Monday two Palestinians while they were hanging a poster near the southern mosque which is located within the Aqsa Mosque compound.

Quds Press revealed that Israeli police allowed 19 settlers to break into the plazas of the holy site in the morning under tightened security measures by Israeli Special Forces.

They got out of the Muslims’ sacred place from al-Silsila gate.

The number of the Jewish settlers who have stormed the plazas of the Aqsa since the beginning of July exceeded 500 settlers.

PPS: “Israeli Soldiers Kidnap Seventeen Palestinians In The West Bank”
Picture
Israeli soldiers kidnapped, earlier Monday, at least seventeen Palestinians in different parts of the occupied West Bank, including one who came under fire of an armed Israeli paramilitary settler, before the soldiers abducted him.

The Jerusalem Office of the Palestinian Prisoners Society (PPS) said the soldiers broke into several homes in the occupied city, and kidnapped six Palestinians.

It said the soldiers kidnapped Anas Abu Assab, 17, Daoud Yousef Ateyya, 17, Mohammad Omar Ateyya (minor), and Bassem Ma’touq, from their homes in the al-‘Eesawiyya town.

The soldiers also kidnapped Netham Abu Ramouz, from his home in the al-‘Ezariyya town, southeast of Jerusalem, and Mohammad Abu Esbeitan from Beit Iksa village, northwest of the city, after storming and violently searching their homes.

Also in Jerusalem, soldiers and fanatic colonists stormed the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, attacked many Palestinians and kidnapped two, identified as Adel Abu Zneid and ‘Aahed Rezeq, before taking them to a nearby interrogation facility.

The attack into the courtyards of Al-Aqsa was carried out through the al-Magharba Gate, when several small groups of soldiers and settlers started flooding the holy site after removing the Muslim worshipers.

Also on Monday at dawn, the army invaded several Palestinian areas in the southern West Bank district of Hebron, searched many homes and kidnapped four Palestinians, identified as Mohammad Aref al-Hjouj, from Bani Neim town, Nabil Kamel al-Ja’bari, 38, Ali Mahmoud Abu Hasan, 21, and Shaddad Hammouda Sharha.

Furthermore, a paramilitary Israeli colonist opened fire at a Palestinian truck, driving on bypass road #60, east of Hebron, before the soldiers stopped the truck driver near Khirbit al-Majnouna area, south of Hebron, and kidnapped him.

Eyewitnesses said the Palestinian has been identified as Hisham Mahmoud Abu Ayyash, from Beit Ummar town, north of Hebron.

The soldiers also invaded the northern West Bank city of Qalqilia, kidnapped three Palestinians, shot and injured another, and violently assaulted a woman.

The kidnapped Palestinians have been identified as Ala’ Wajeeh Abatly, his brother Anas, and Salim J’eidi.

One Palestinian, identified as Majdi Nizar Atatra, was kidnapped after the soldiers stormed and searched several homes in Jenin city, in the northern part of the West Bank.

Settlers defile Aqsa Mosque under police guard
Picture
A horde of Jewish settlers on Sunday morning desecrated the Aqsa Mosque's courtyards as part of daily provocative break-ins staged under Israeli police escort at the Islamic holy shrine.

Local sources said that some settlers tried during their presence at the Mosque to perform rituals, but Palestinian worshipers intervened and chanted religious slogans loudly to fend them off.

Meanwhile, the Israeli police continued to impose entry bans on several Palestinian women, who rallied near its gates reciting verses from the holy Qur'an.

10 million shekels, the cost of Judaizing the New Gate of O. Jerusalem
Picture
Israeli media sources revealed that Israeli authorities have started a Judaization project of the New Gate area in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem.

Kol Ha'ir Israeli weekly newspaper stated that the so called Jerusalem Development Authority, Jerusalem Municipality, ministries of Jerusalem and Tourism along with the Water Authority will cooperate for what they call developing the New Gate in the Old City.

The project is expected to start within the coming weeks and to be finished by early 2017. The cost of the project is estimated at 10 million shekels, the newspaper pointed out.

The project aims at turning the area into an active touristic and commercial zone whereas water, sewage and electricity networks will be repaired.

The tiles of the New Gate’s Street, as well, are going to be renovated and special pathways for the disabled will be established along with other services within a plan which aims at enhancing facilities for the interest of Israeli usage in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem.
