Palestinian governor of Jerusalem Adnan al-Husseini said that the arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in 1969 is still continuous today because of Israeli ceaseless crimes.
The arson which affected 25% to 30% of the southeast area of the Muslims’ holy site in 1969 was not carried out by an individual; it rather was conducted by systematic planning, he said.
In an exclusive statement to the PIC, Husseini pointed out that the arson after 47 years of renovating the Aqsa has transformed into different facets including Israeli violations which include excavations under the Aqsa Mosque, detaining and killing of Palestinians in the al-Aqsa compound, allowing Israeli extremists to storm al-Aqsa, and demolishing Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem.
He referred to the Israeli incursions into the Aqsa which started in 2000 then dramatically increased for the sake of taking over the holy site to be followed by a new stage declared by Israeli authorities a few days ago that the Aqsa Mosque is going to be knocked down in three years for the construction of the alleged Temple of Solomon.
Husseini said that “the inability to solve the Palestinian issue until now hints at the dereliction towards the Palestinian cause and the lack of awareness of the dangers faced by the al-Aqsa Mosque and the entire Palestinian Question.”

World Women Coalition for supporting Jerusalem and Palestine called for directing the efforts and powers of the Islamic nation towards the Palestinian cause and the Aqsa Mosque.
The coalition stated in a statement on Sunday, which marks the 47th anniversary of the arson attack on the Aqsa Mosque, that such a crime will never be forgotten and will remain the stimuli for regaining the Muslims’ holy site.
The statement also stressed that the Palestinian Question will remain alive through the generations and called for the nation's support for the liberation of the Aqsa from Israeli occupation.
The coalition also warned of Israeli aggressive practices and violations at the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem, referring to serious dangers threatening Muslims’ sacred places.
Such threats include Israeli plans of temporal and spatial division at the Aqsa, confiscation of the Palestinian right, expelling and assaulting Jerusalemite women, humiliating the elderly people, intimidating children and depriving the Palestinians of their right of worship.

As 47 years have elapsed, prominent Palestinian leaders and religious figures gathered in Jerusalem’s eastern town of al-Tour on Sunday to mark the anniversary of the arson attack on the holy al-Aqsa Mosque.
Palestinians commemorated the 47th anniversary of the notorious arson attack on the al-Aqsa Mosque, as Palestinian officials highlighted that the Muslim holy site was still under threat today.
In a press conference, Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Sheikh Muhammad Hussein said that Israeli violations, which include detaining and killing Palestinians in the Al-Aqsa compound, allowing Israeli extremists to storm al-Aqsa, and demolishing Palestinian homes in Occupied Jerusalem were “another type of fire which has kept burning the al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem for 47 years.”
Palestinian Governor of Occupied Jerusalem Adnan al-Husseini also said that “the inability to solve the Palestinian issue until now hints at the dereliction towards the Palestinian cause and the lack of awareness of the dangers faced by the Al-Aqsa Mosque.”
“We can still smell the fumes of the fire which burst out 47 years ago in the excavations, break-ins, secret tunnels, arbitrary abductions, and abrupt confiscations perpetrated by the Israeli occupation authorities,” al-Husseini stated.
“The al-Aqsa is not just made of walls and domes. It is part and parcel of the Islamic faith. Its worth goes far beyond its stones to reach the nation’s heart. Al-Aqsa is Muslims’ source of dignity and the nation’s beating heart,” he added.
Head of the al-Aqsa Academy for Science and Heritage, Sheikh Najeh Bkeirat, urged Arabs and Muslims to combine forces and work on liberating Occupied Jerusalem and al-Aqsa.
Forty-seven years ago, the Jewish Australian tourist Denis Michael Rohan set fire to the al-Aqsa Mosque in Occupied Jerusalem. The arson attack was one of several assaults on the site since Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967.
In April 1982, an Israeli soldier indiscriminately opened fire on Muslim worshipers inside the Mosque, killing two and wounding six others.
In October of 1990, Israeli police killed 21 Palestinians and injured scores during clashes that erupted when Israeli extremists tried to place the foundation stone of an alleged Jewish temple inside the Mosque's compound.
The Israeli occupation authorities, meanwhile, have carried out excavations in the vicinity of the Mosque without disclosing the exact nature or details of these underground works.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has emphasized that the safety and inviolability of the Islamic holy sites, especially the Aqsa Mosque, in Occupied Jerusalem are very important for the establishment of peace and security in the entire region.
"Israel, as an occupying power, bears full responsibility for the safety of all holy places under its unjust occupation," the OIC stated in a press release on the 47th Aqsa fire anniversary.
"International treaties and conventions, especially the Fourth Geneva Convention, prohibits the occupation state from assaulting places of worship, guarantees free access to them and bans any occupying power from creating geographic and demographic changes or abusing historical places," the Islamic Organization added.
It called on the international community to work on forcing Israel, as an occupying entity, to abide by the principles of international law and resolutions and to end its occupation of Palestine and its capital Jerusalem.
It also called for immediate international action curbing Israel's persistent violations and Judaization activities against the Palestinian Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The Hamas Movement has renewed its vow to continue its struggle against the Israeli occupation until sweeping it away from the entire Palestinian land and holy sites.
"Israel's crimes against our people and holy places will only strengthen our determination not to recognize its entity or cede a single grain of our soil," Hamas stated Sunday on the 47th anniversary of the arson attack on the Aqsa Mosque.
"The Aqsa Mosque is in our hearts, and our faithful hearts will never burn…the Aqsa Mosque will remain the title of our dignity and the secret behind the continuance of our struggle," the Movement underscored.

Al-Quds International Institution has warned that the Aqsa Mosque continues to face major dangers threatening its existence in light of Israel's persistent attempts to divide it between Muslims and Jews and control it.
This came in a statement released on Saturday by al-Quds International on the 47th anniversary of the arson attack on the Aqsa Mosque.
"Jerusalem and its Aqsa Mosque are facing an existential war aimed at obliterating the Arab-Islamic identity and imposing a Zio-Jewish identity in its place,"
the Palestinian foundation underlined. It accused the Israeli government of attempting to divide the Mosque temporally and spatially between Muslims and Jews, to force the Jordanian awqaf authority to accept an Israeli role in administering its affairs.
It said that the strong presence of Muslims from Jerusalem and the 1948 occupied lands at the Aqsa Mosque foiled all Israel's plots, stressing that the Mosque would remain an Islamic holy site in its entirety and would never be shared or divided.

For more than one month, Israeli authorities have planned and began the implementation of a new and permanent checkpoint structure, with other permanent buildings, on the historic grounds of the Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron’s Old City district.
According to the PNN, their plans (as seen below) reveal that vast damage will be done to the historic grounds of this cultural heritage site. The plans include the removal of stones from the site, which is more than 2,000 years old. These plans will permanently damage the historical mosque and the aesthetic fabric of the area.
This is seen as an unprecedented attack on a historical site of this nature, in Hebron. Although Palestinian authorities have filed objections to the military orders for these plans, the work has resumed. From what is known of the plans, the intent is to install two large buildings (as outlined in red below) on the grounds of the holy site.

The two large buildings are not consistent with normal security checkpoints. The oversized structures are seen as obtrusive and unnecessary. Normal checkpoints are meant to be temporary minimal structures installed during a military occupation.
However, the plans reveal Israeli intentions to establish a permanent presence at the site, and develop large structures for reasons other than “security”.
Actual work on the grounds of the historic Ibrahimi Mosque being carried out by Israeli military forces can be seen in the picture below:

The Hebron Rehabilitation Committee deplores what they deem as an assault on this Palestinian national cultural site. The plans to alter the historic site, which is protected under international law, are in violation of various humanitarian and human rights laws, including the Geneva Conventions, and are tantamount to war crimes.
Urgent intervention is requested from human rights organizations, cultural heritage protection workers, diplomats, foreign governments, UN agencies and other intermediaries. The Hebron Rehabilitation Committee has called on these organizations, individuals and groups to work quickly, in an attempt to prevent permanent damage to the mosque, one of Palestine’s most treasured historical and religious sites.
All forms of assistance are needed. It has been requested that the information about the plans and activities be spread immediately. Advocacy initiatives are to take place without delay.

Israeli sources revealed that Israeli authorities are about to launch over the few coming weeks a judaziation project under the claim of developing the infrastructure of the New Gate area in the Old City of Occupied Jerusalem.
The project aims at transforming the historical area to an attractive touristic site whereby water, electricity and sewage networks as well as floor tiles are going to be renovated, according to a report issued by QPress center for Jerusalem and the Aqsa affairs.
The project is planned to be implemented by cooperation of the so-called Jerusalem development authority along with Jerusalem municipality, Ministries of Jerusalem and Tourism and the water company.
The project costs 10 million shekels and is expected to be completed by 2017.

Hordes of Israeli fanatic settlers stormed on early Friday morning an Islamic holy site in Kafl Haris town, to the north of Salfit city.
According to eyewitness accounts, Israeli fanatic settlers flocked to Kafl Haris and performed sacrilegious rituals inside an Islamic holy site before they stole its iron gate and windows.
The extremist Israelis reportedly yelled anti-Muslim slogans in a barefaced provocation to the locals.
A number of settlers were, meanwhile, waving arms during the assault, sparking panic in the area.

The Islamic Christian Committee to Defend Jerusalem and Holy Sites warned, on Thursday, against an Israeli project called the “New Face of Modern Jerusalem,” which targets the main western entrance of the city.
The committee said, in a press release, that the plan aims to give Jerusalem a Jewish character, obliterate its Arab Muslim and Christian identity, deface its history and create a new face that doesn’t relate to the original Arab Jerusalem.
Secretary General of the Committee Hanna Isaa said, according to WAFA correspondence, that the plan is proposed on around 720,000 meter square of land and would cost 1.4 billion shekels ($370 million USD).
Issa said that Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barakat’s statement that Jerusalem will become an advanced and more modern commercial center with many technological projects is a blatant declaration of Israel’s intent to give Jerusalem a Jewish character, something rejected by all international laws.
The committee further stated that Israel is working day and night to make Jerusalem Israel’s eternal capital controlled by a Jewish majority. Israel is escalating settlement construction and the apartheid wall, as well as many other projects to serve the purpose of making Jerusalem a Jewish-only capital.
The committee renewed calls upon international and Arab institutions especially the United Nations, UNESCO and the Arab Leagues to interfere immediately, and pressure Israeli into putting an end to all violations committed in this regard.
