Scores of extremist Jewish settlers with their children desecrated the Aqsa Mosque’s courtyards on Wednesday morning under tight police escort.
The Israeli police had opened the Mosque’s Maghariba Gate at 07:3 am and deployed dozens of its officers and special forces inside and around the Islamic holy site before allowing in the settlers.
Today’s massive desecration of the Mosque by Jewish settlers came after extremist temple mount groups incited their followers to march en mass to the holy site to commemorate the destruction of the alleged temple.

Spokesman for Jerusalem's Islamic Awqaf Department Feras al-Dibs said that Israeli police allowed 110 settlers to break into al-Aqsa Mosque via al-Maghareba Gate and roam its courtyards.
Al-Dibs told Quds Press that an Israeli archeologist accompanied the settlers in their tour under the protection of Israeli police forces.
The settlers further performed Talmudic rituals near the Dome of the Rock.

In a related context, Israeli Intelligence Service ordered al-Aqsa guard Bayan al-Sheikh to appear on Wednesday at al-Qashla detention center for interrogation.

The Awqaf (Endowment) and al-Aqsa affairs Department in Jerusalem exposed on Monday Israeli excavations being conducted under al-Aqsa mosque.
In a statement, the Department said that the excavations are carried out under the northern side of the Islamic museum in the western part of the holy site.
The statement also highlighted that Israeli police take photos of the area on a daily bases and affirmed the disappearance of water placed in different locations in the museum park.
Head of the Awqaf Department, Azzam al-Khatib, asked UNESCO to intervene for exploring the Israeli ongoing excavations under the holy shrine.
He also asked Israeli police to permit a committee to be appointed by the Jordanian government to access the excavations site and to assess the situation.

Israeli settlers erected on Wednesday morning a large tent in the Ibrahimi Mosque in the southern West Bank province of al-Khalil.
Hafsi Abu Sneineh, director of the Mosque, affirmed that the settlers set up a tent in the Ibrahimi Mosque’s square after uprooting a perennial tree.
The settlers also carried out provocative actions in the square, he added.
On Tuesday, Palestinian Religious Endowments Ministry revealed that Israel prohibited the Muslim call to prayer 298 times in the first half of this year at the Ibrahimi Mosque.
The Ibrahimi Mosque is located in al-Khalil’s Old City district, which is home to some 160,000 Palestinian Muslims and about 500 Jewish settlers, with the latter living in a series of Jewish-only settlements heavily guarded by Israeli troops.
In 1994, Baruch Goldstein, an Israeli-American Jewish settler, gunned down 29 Palestinian Muslims as they prayed at the mosque.
Since then, the mosque has been divided into a Muslim section (45 percent) and a Jewish section (55 percent).
