The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) has roundly condemned the opening by the Israeli occupation authority of a tunnel named the “Path of the Pilgrims” linking Silwan town in Jerusalem with the Aqsa Mosque and its vicinity.
This new settlement project, said ISESCO, is a flagrant violation of international law and UN and UNESCO resolutions calling for protecting and respecting the inviolability of Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem. video
ISESCO also called on the international community to condemn such Israeli violation which it described as a criminal act and curb the occupation state from further changing the civilizational, human and religious landmarks of Jerusalem.
ISESCO reiterated its unfailing educational, cultural and scientific support for Palestine in general and Jerusalem in particular.

Crews from Israel's Jerusalem municipality, under heavy police guard, on Sunday evening stormed Wadi al-Hummus neighborhood in Sur Baher town, south of Jerusalem, and took measurements of homes threatened with demolition.
Head of Wadi al-Hummus Committee, Hamada Hamada, said that the planned demolition campaign will include 237 apartments that are homes for about 500 people.
Hamada said that the Jerusalem municipality asked the residents to demolish their own homes. Otherwise, it would do the demolition and force them to pay steep fines.
He added that an Israeli court has given the families a time limit until 18 July to evacuate and demolish their homes.
The demolition campaign comes under the pretext that the targeted homes are close to the separation wall and pose a security threat.
Israeli laws stipulate that Palestinian homes must be at least 250 meters away from the wall.
Wadi al-Hummus is inhabited by over 6,000 Palestinians, 500 of whom will be forced to leave after the demolition.

A few days ago, the IOA and the Elad society (a settler group active in Judaizing the holy city) opened a tunnel under Silwan in Jerusalem as part of the Judaization project called the pilgrim road of the temple mount.
The US administration, which supports Israel’s control of Jerusalem, delegated its envoy Jason Greenblatt and ambassador David Friedman to attend the inauguration of the tunnel, where Friedman provocatively used a sledgehammer to knock down a specially built wall to announce the opening of the new underground passage. video

The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Monday morning prevented Palestinian citizens from entering the archeological area of Sebastia town, north of Nablus, and allowed dozens of Jewish settlers to visit it.
Sebastia mayor Mohamed Azem said that scores of settlers stormed under military protection the ancient area of the town.
Azem added that the IOF cordoned off the area and bared local residents from getting near it.
The archeological area of Sebastia town is exposed to repeated break-ins by Israeli soldiers and settlers, who falsely claim it is a Jewish ritual site.
Sebastia is a mixture of structural remains and modern buildings and it is one of the oldest continuously inhabited places in the West Bank.
It was once a major city, home to successive civilizations from its Arab Canaanite founders to the Romans and then its modern-day Palestinian inhabitants.
Both the major archaeological site above the village and the historic center of the town itself are still fascinating tourist attractions.
However, this unique ancient town is exposed to systematic attempts by Israel and its ministry of tourism to obliterate and Judaize its Palestinian history and identity.
According to Azem, Israel prevents the Palestinian local authorities from carrying out any restoration or cleaning works at the historical sites.
Every once in a while, groups of Jewish settlers escorted by soldiers provocatively storm the main archaeological site of the town in broad daylight to perform religious rituals as part of an Israeli attempt to claim it as a Jewish shrine.
At nighttime, the site becomes vulnerable to acts of sabotage and plundering from Jewish thieves.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) removed, at the request of the state of Palestine, Bethlehem’s Church of the Nativity from UNESCO’s list of endangered world heritage sites following restorations.
The church was named a UNESCO world heritage site in 2012 and placed on its endangered list the same year, due to its poor condition as a result of water leakage from the roof, threatening the structural integrity of the building.
The committee reached the decision to remove it from the endangered list during a meeting in Baku, which began on June 30 and continues until July 10, it said in a statement, PNN reports.
The restoration was carried out with donations received from all over the world towards the program.
Palestinian minister of tourism, Rula Maaya stressed the importance of this achievement, pointing out that Palestine succeeded in record time in registering three Palestinian sites on the World Heritage List within five years of gaining its full membership at UNESCO, in addition to the inscription of the Old City of Jerusalem and its Walls at the request of Jordan on the World Heritage List in 1981 and on the List of World Heritage in Danger In 1982 and remains until today.
Maaya said that these registrations are an important method to preserve the Palestinian heritage from the Judaization policies of the Israeli occupation authorities.
