The main street in the neighborhood of Wadi Hilweh in Silwan, in occupied Jerusalem, witnessed on Friday landslides and cracks, after heavy rainfall that has continued for several days. The Information Center of Wadi Hilweh stated in a press release that the rain dug a deep hole of two meters diameter and caused cracks in the main street, posing a threat to the lives of the residents and the passers-by.
Residents of Silwan said the hole has uncovered a new tunnel drilled in the region, down the Wadi Hilweh neighborhood.
The information center added that a retaining wall collapsed in the region, while more than 20 trees, including cypress and olive trees, were uprooted during the last two days.
Another retaining wall had collapsed late last month, due to the Israeli excavations under the citizens' houses.
Residents of Wadi Hilweh held the occupation municipality responsible for the collapses and landslides near their houses, as it has been stalling in repairing the recent collapses.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, preacher of the Aqsa Mosque, urged the Palestinians to intensify their presence inside the Aqsa Mosque to protect it and defend it against any Jewish aggression. In his Friday khutba (sermon), Sheikh Sabri strongly denounced the Israeli attempts to control the Aqsa Mosque through imposing measures restricting the access of the Palestinians to their holy Mosque.
He condemned the Israeli measure taken on Friday, which allowed only Palestinian men and women of certain ages to pray at the Aqsa Mosque, warning that the right-wing Israeli government plans further steps against the Mosque and divide it between Muslims and Jews.
The preacher also noted that senior rabbis issued religious edicts ordering the Jews to defile the Aqsa Mosque and pray in its courtyards.
Sheikh Sabri highlighted the constant harassment which students of religious sessions at the Aqsa Mosque are exposed to every day by the Israeli police, affirming that these sessions will continue to take place despites all challenges.
He also talked about the occupation's intention to reduce the sound of Adhan at Jerusalem Mosques and emphasized that the call to prayers would never be lowered at Mosques and those who feel disturbed by its sound can leave the holy city.

In 2008, HP was awarded a $74 million contract by the Israeli Ministry of Interior to manufacture five million biometric ID cards, which contain advanced technology which allows the Israeli Population Authority to track and monitor all citizens and residents of Israel – including Palestinian Jerusalemites.
Israel maintains a stratified ID system – designating Palestinians holding West Bank residence with green ID cards, those in Gaza with red ID cards, and permanent residents of occupied Jerusalem with blue IDs (distinguished from the IDs of Israeli citizens). This structure works to further divide the Palestinian population from both the occupiers and each other, limit freedom of movement, and institutionalize inequality and discrimination. Additionally, Israeli ID cards serve to differentiate Palestinian citizens of Israel from Jewish citizens, and are commonly used for segregation purposes and other discriminatory practices. Palestinians with permanent residency status in Jerusalem face unique hardships as a result of such division.
Though subject to Israeli law, permanent residents are not afforded comprehensive rights. Instead, despite having been born in the city, their status equates them to immigrants with limited entitlements. Blue Jerusalem IDs also serve as the sole means for proving their right to remain in the city, as Israel imposes numerous tactics to forcibly expel the Arab population and Judaize Jerusalem. Among these is the Center of Life policy, which compels Palestinian residents of Jerusalem to prove to the Ministry of Interior that the city remains his or her main place of living through an exhaustive (at times, impossible to attain) list of documents. Since its illegal and de-facto annexation by Israel in 1967, over 14,000 IDs have been revoked, forcing Palestinians to either leave the city or reside within it illegally.
The “Aviv” population registration system, operated by Israel’s Ministry of the Interior, is a comprehensive population registry, managing information on age, race, address, country of origin, and religion for Israeli citizens and residents. According to the Israeli Interior Ministry, « To be a resident of Jerusalem, a person must prove that Israel is their main place of residence. Otherwise the population register must be altered. » Maintenance of this population registry system is hence integral to Israel’s continued repression of the Palestinian people. Hewlett-Packard manages the “Aviv” registry, following its acquisition of Compaq Computers in 2002.
In 2008, HP was additionally awarded a $74 million contract by the Israeli Ministry of Interior to manufacture five million biometric ID cards, which contain advanced technology that allows the Israeli Population Authority to track and monitor all citizens and residents of Israel – including Palestinian Jerusalemites.
Just as Polaroid and IBM were targets for international boycotts because of their joint-production of pass books in apartheid South Africa, we call on the global community to boycott HP for its complicity in Israel’s ethnic cleansing of occupied Jerusalem.
HP’s Support for the Israeli Occupation
HP’s collusion with Israel in its occupation expands far beyond the boundaries of Jerusalem:
· HP provides Israel with the Basel System, a biometric control system with hand and facial recognition, installed in checkpoints in the Occupied West Bank and Gaza
· HP supplies Ariel and Modi’in Illit – 2 of the largest illegal Israeli settlements Ariel – with various forms of technology to accommodate “rapid economic and population growth”
· Since 2006, HP has supplied, operated, and maintained the Israeli military’s IT infrastructure, used to enforce the Gaza blockade
Take Action!
The Coalition to Boycott HP is in its final stages of preparing for the HP annual shareholder’s meeting, to take place on March 19th. There, members will present a petition letter calling on the company to end its ties to Israel. The Coalition needs all the signatures it can get from solidarity groups around the world, so please sign on before March 17th and tell HP to stop funding Israel’s apartheid.

Thousands of worshipers prayed in the streets of Jerusalem on Friday after Israeli authorities imposed new restrictions on Palestinians' right to pray inside the holy Al-Aqsa compound.
The compound -- which is the third holiest site in Islam -- was mostly empty on Friday after Israeli authorities prohibited all Palestinians under the age of 40 from praying there and set up barricades at the compound's entrances to limit their access. Many worshipers prayed at the gates of the compound while others prayed at the entrances to the Old City, although a limited number were able to pray inside the Al-Aqsa compound. The restrictions come only two weeks after Israeli authorities imposed similar restrictions, barring |
Palestinians under the age of 50 from praying in the compound. Those restrictions led to protests both in Palestine and abroad, as many feared such limitations were part of a broader strategy to limit Palestinian access to the compound.
The Al-Aqsa Foundation for Waqf and Heritage said in a statement on Friday afternoon that many of the worshipers arrived to find that Israeli forces had set up military checkpoints in the alleys of the Old City.
As a result, worshipers gathered at the Council Gate (Bab al-Majlis), the Iron Gate (Bab al-Hadid), and Gate of Remission (Bab al-Hatta) to pray as close to the Al-Aqsa mosque as possible, while areas around Damascus Gate and the Lion's Gate, both of which are gates to Jerusalem's Old City, saw large numbers of worshipers as well.
Scuffles broke out in a number of places with Israeli police forces as a result of the restrictions.
The Al-Aqsa Foundation warned that Israeli policies and pressures restricting worshipers' access to Al-Aqsa were increasing and becoming more common, calling upon Palestinians in Jerusalem and across Palestine to increase their efforts to maintain their links with the compound.

The Israeli occupation police, accompanied by experts in communications, began installing special cameras in the markets and the alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem and in the roads leading to the Aqsa Mosque. Expert in communications and information technology engineer Adnan Saeed said in a press statement on Friday that a Herzliya based company got a contract to change 269 cameras installed in different areas of the Old City; particularly in the Asbat Gate, the road leading to the Buraq Wall and in the vicinity of some settlement outposts.
Engineer Adnan confirmed that these cameras are used by the Israeli police during the clashes.
They also aim to monitor the movements of worshipers at the Aqsa Mosque and the work of the Islamic waqf authority, in addition to strengthening the Israeli control over the Mosque, he added.

Jordan's Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Hayel Abdul Hafeez Dawood has condemned Israeli occupation authorities' banning of Palestinian worshipers' access to al-Aqsa Mosque. This came after Israeli forces, stationed at the holy mosque’s gates, prevented students and worshipers' access to al-Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning, while allowing the entry of Israeli settlers to its plazas.
The Israeli forces have closed on Tuesday till today five gates of al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented the entry of those under the age of 50, while they facilitated Israeli settlers' access to the Mosque’s squares.
Awqaf Minister described the Israeli measure as a serious precedent and a flagrant violation of international conventions and treaties especially the peace treaty between Jordan and Israel.
He said that Israeli violations in al-Aqsa Mosque would trigger a religious war in the region especially that the Aqsa is part of the creed of more than 1.7 billion Muslims across the globe.
The minister called on all peace-loving countries, United Nations, international organizations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League to pressure the IOA to stop such provocative actions in Jerusalem and its holy sanctities.
Meanwhile, dozens of Israeli extremist settlers led by radical rabbi Yehuda Glick stormed al-Aqsa Mosque on Wednesday under the protection of the Israeli police.
Eyewitnesses said that extremist Jewish settlers led by radical rabbi Yehuda Glick on Wednesday stormed al-Aqsa Mosque compound under the protection of the Israeli police during which Glick ascended to the roof of the Dome of the Rock in total provocation to Palestinian worshipers.
For its part, Jerusalem International Foundation, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and the Arab League called for protecting al-Aqsa Mosque in light of the Israeli escalated violations amid Arab governments' silence.

Rightist Jewsish lawyer Yehuda Glick entered the al-Aqsa Mosque compound Wednesday along with two ultra-Orthodox Jewish rabbis escorted by Israeli police officers.
Witnesses told Ma’an that the three entered the compound through the Moroccan Gate then they toured it before they climbed to the courtyard of the Dome of the Rock.
Witnesses heard Glick and the rabbis discussing the Jewish Temple. “They were saying that the alleged temple is under the dome of spirits,” one witness said.

A researcher in Palestinian history stated that the current Palestinian and Arab situation is the most opportune condition for the implementation of the Israeli scheme to take control over the entire region. Alaa Abu Dhaheer, coordinator of International Youth Exchange Program (Zagel) at Najah National University in Nablus, said that revolutions and counter-revolutions in the Arab world and internal differences have exhausted the Arab people, prompting Israeli occupation to accelerate its scheme to establish the alleged temple on al-Aqsa Mosque ruins and to take full control over it.
Abu Dhaheer told Quds Press that Israeli authorities do not need the PA approval to achieve its scheme because it will be a fait accompli.
For his part, Hamas spokesman Hossam Badran renewed his call on the Palestinian Authority (PA) and the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) to halt the absurd negotiation with the Israeli occupation authorities.
Badran said in a press statement on Monday that the negotiation process has paved the way for the occupation to implement its Judaization and settlement schemes.
He called on PLO to re-adopt Palestinian people's option of resistance to restore Palestinian legitimate rights and implement national reconciliation without succumbing to any foreign pressure and dictations.
He charged that the Israeli authorities exploit Palestinian-Israeli negotiation and the Arab countries' preoccupation with internal crises in order to escalate Judaization schemes.
He said that Arab internal problems and crises should not preoccupy the Arab people at the expense of Palestinian cause and Jerusalem.
Badran called on the Arab countries to provide all forms of support and assistance to the Palestinian people till the end of Israeli occupation.

Yoav, an Israeli military unit responsible for demolishing houses in the Negev, desecrated the Islamic cemetery in Al-Araqeb on Monday, Land Research Center said in a press release.
According to the LRC, the Israeli soldiers entered the cemetery under the pretext of taking pictures of the mosque and minaret. However, their real intention was and still is to wipe off Al Araqeb and kick its inhabitants out so that they can have control over the land. For that, they have been trying to erase every Arabic presence in the area.
People of Al-Araqeb tried to defy the members of the unit. The latter told them that: "You do not have any sanctuaries here since all this land is ours."
It should be remarked that Al-Araqeb, which is located in the Palestinian Negev, was a target for the Israeli house demolition operations for more than 65 times! It is inhabited by 22 families that consist of around 130 people, more than half of whom are children.

A Jewish temple group intends to hold a conference in occupied Jerusalem on Tuesday to discuss the possibility of imposing Israel's sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque and creating the atmosphere for such step. The group stated in a press release on Sunday that it would organize a conference on imposing Israel's sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque.
It noted that several Knesset members led by deputy speaker Moshe Feiglin and a number of senior rabbis would attend the conference.
The conference will address what was tabled last month at the Knesset about revoking Jordan's sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque and making it under Israel's authority, according to the fanatic group.
Recently, Jordan, regional groups at the UN, and the organization of Islamic cooperation condemned and expressed concerns over Israel's illegal practices at the Aqsa Mosque and its declared intents to impose its sovereignty over the Islamic holy sites in occupied Jerusalem.

Fanatic rabbi Yehuda Glick stormed the Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem on Sunday morning along with a group of settlers. Local sources told the PIC reporter that Glick briefed the settlers on the myth of the alleged temple, as small groups of other settlers entered the holy site and provocatively toured its various plazas.
Hundreds of school students from occupied Jerusalem had entered the Aqsa Mosque and toured its courtyards and utilities since the early morning hours.
Israeli policemen imposed restrictions on Palestinians wishing to enter the Aqsa Mosque and confiscated the IDs of young men and women during their stay in the compound.

The Islamic Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization ISESCO expressed its rejection to the recent proposal introduced by the Israeli Knesset which gives the Israeli occupation a thorough sovereignty over al-Aqsa mosque. The organization confirmed in a statement that the legal status of al-Aqsa mosque and the occupied Palestinian territories proves the illegality of the Israeli occupation in Palestine. Therefore, any Israeli measure against al-Aqsa is rejected and illegal.
UN Security Council, UN General Assembly, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon called on the necessity of preventing this bill quickly.
ISESCO appealed to the international community to take actions to stop the Israeli crimes and its frequent repressive practices against Jerusalem and Muslim and Christian holy places.
ISESCO was established by the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in May 1979. It is one of the largest international Islamic organizations and specializes in the fields of education, science, and culture. Its headquarters are in Rabat, Morocco.
Its goals concentrate on strengthening and promoting and consolidating cooperation among Member States (OIC) in the fields of education, science, culture and communication, developing applied sciences and use of advanced technology within the framework of Islamic values and ideals, consolidating understanding among Muslim peoples, and contributing to the achievement of world peace and security, particularly through education, science, culture and communication.

The organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC) started to move diplomatically at the UN level to curb Israel's intention to strip Jordan of its sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque. Guinean ambassador to the UN Mamady Traore, who represents the OIC states members in the UN, expressed on Saturday his concern over Israel's illegal activities at the Aqsa Mosque and its Knesset's attempt to impose a Jewish sovereignty over the Mosque.
Traore said he demanded the president of the UN Security Council to convene a session to table this issue in order to take action curbing Israel's illegal measures against the Aqsa Mosque.
The Arab and Islamic member states of the UN had sent letters in this regard to the presidency of the Security Council and the General Assembly as well as to Secretary-General of the UN Ban Ki-moon.
