Jerusalemite Foundation: Jerusalemites have become refugees in their city

Picture
Jerusalemite Foundation condemned the Israeli escalated demolition campaign threatening the Jerusalemites' right to housing.

The Jerusalem Foundation for Development said in a press statement that the Jerusalemites have become refugees in their own city due to the demolition process carried out by the Israeli municipality with the aim of expelling the city's native residents and implement demographic changes in the area.

The Israeli right-wing parties' statements reflect the Israeli fierce campaign against Jerusalem and its people, where many Israeli leaders claimed that Jerusalem is the Jewish eternal capital and the Palestinian population rate should not exceed 3 per cent in the occupied city, the foundation added.

The foundation pointed out to the escalated demolition campaign against Jerusalemites' houses under the pretext of building without permits, forcing several Jerusalemites to build outside the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Since 1967, about 1322 houses were demolished in addition to 20 thousand demolition orders were issued in an attempt to create a new demographic, geographic and political reality in the occupied Jerusalem.

60 Jewish settlers storm the Aqsa mosque

Picture
About 60 Jewish settlers stormed the Aqsa mosque on Tuesday morning in groups and as individuals under heavy Israeli military escort and toured the holy site in the company of rabbis. Hundreds of worshipers, school students, and students learning the holy Quran were present at the time and chanted Allahu Akbar (God is Great) in rejection of those visits and tours.

Tension is prevailing in the Old City of Jerusalem and in the vicinity of the Aqsa mosque after Jewish fanatic organizations declared intention to assemble in front of the Israeli premier’s office at 5:00 pm today then head from there to the Aqsa mosque to demand full sovereignty over the holy site and the right of Jews to offer Talmudic rituals inside it.

The Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage warned of the consequences of that march and held the Israeli occupation authority fully responsible in the event it actually took place.

AFEH called on the Arab and Islamic organizations and peoples to assume their responsibility toward Jerusalem and the Aqsa, and urged for immediate action to save the Aqsa from plots that are being ceaselessly hatched against it.

Organizers of global march to J'lem to stage rally next June

Picture
The organizers of the global march to Jerusalem said they would stage a worldwide rally in support of the holy city on June 7, 2013, which marks the 46th anniversary of Israel's occupation of the eastern part of the city.

The organizers of the march said in a press release on Monday that they intend to hold this global march because of Israel's persistent occupation of Jerusalem and its escalation of its violations against the city and its native people.

"The grass-roots organizations, the supporters of the Palestinian cause and the world's peace-loving people will not stand silent and idly watching the city of peace turn into a den for the racist Zionism where the most heinous Zionist crimes are committed against it, its people and its holy sites in full view of the whole world and international organizations," spokesman for the global march Zaher Birawi said.

"Jerusalem is slipping away from our hands and being Judaized rapidly while the leaders of the [Muslim] nation are watching, which makes it imperative for the [Muslim] peoples to take the lead and start to move seriously to force their leaders to assume their responsibilities towards the holy city and its people," the spokesman added.

Gaza gov’t denounces Canadian FM for meeting Israeli officials in Jerusalem

Picture
The Palestinian foreign affairs ministry in Gaza has denounced the Canadian foreign minister John Baird for meeting Israeli justice minister in her office in Jerusalem.

The ministry described the meeting, in a statement on Monday, as a serious precedence, explaining that it constituted a clear recognition by Canada of Israel’s right to Jerusalem.

The meeting came in flagrant violation of all international resolutions and historical constants that affirm Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine, the ministry said and asked the Canadian government to apologize over such a step.

The statement urged all free people of the world to stand alongside the Palestinian people until achieving independence and full rights.

Sheikh Sabri calls for an Arab Islamic Union

Picture
Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the Supreme Islamic Council and a preacher at Al-Aqsa Mosque, called for the establishment of an Arab Islamic Union like the European Union which was established since two decades.

Sheikh Sabri's statements came during a meeting with a delegation of representatives of Islamic community in Australia, including doctors, economists, researchers, and lawyers.

Dr. Sabri called, in a press release on Monday, on Arab and Islamic countries to intensify and unite their efforts to establish a coherent union that removes borders and barriers between them in order to build a strategic international force to face the nation's challenges.

Al-Aqsa preacher pointed out to the risks faced by the occupied city of Jerusalem due to the Israeli Judaization policy aimed to blur its Islamic and Arab heritage and monuments.

Dr. Sabri gifted the delegation a number of maps and books related to the history of Jerusalem and al-Aqsa mosque.

Jewish march Tuesday to demand Israeli sovereignty over Aqsa Mosque

Picture
The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage warned that extremist Jewish groups intend next Tuesday to march in a rally from outside the house of the Israeli premier in occupied Jerusalem to the Aqsa Mosque to demand their government to seize the Mosque.

These Jewish groups launched an invitation for their followers to participate in a march on Tuesday evening to demand the Israeli government to claim sovereignty over the Aqsa Mosque, the Aqsa foundation said.

According to this invitation, the march will call on the government to take control of what they described as the temple mount in order to allow the Jews to perform their Talmudic rituals freely inside it.

The foundation reiterated that the Aqsa Mosque belongs to Muslims alone and called on the Palestinian natives of Jerusalem to intensify their presence in the Mosque to protect it against any Jewish break-in.

Hamas: Jewish marches won’t succeed in wiping out facts

Hamas warned against proceeding with the Jewish march slated to start from Israeli premier Benjamin Netanyahu’s house to the Aqsa Mosque demanding full sovereignty over the holy site.

The movement described the march in a statement on Monday as “provocative” and a desperate attempt. It added that the march would not succeed in imposing a de facto situation or in wiping out facts.

Hamas called on the Palestinian people to unite their ranks in confrontation with the Israeli occupation’s plots and projects.

Hamas urged the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to assume their responsibilities in protecting Jerusalem and the Aqsa and to adopt practical steps to deter the occupation’s crimes against the land and holy shrines.

Warnings of seriousness of Israeli Strauss Center project

Picture
Islamic and national figures have warned of the seriousness of Strauss Center project in Buraq Square, considering it a destruction of Islamic relics and an attack on Islamic endowments and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Sheikh Ikrima Sabri, head of the Supreme Islamic Council, said in a press statement on Sunday: "We have warned of the seriousness of this project before the start of its implementation, but the Arab and Islamic countries did not respond to our calls to deter Israel."

He added that the Al-Aqsa Mosque vicinity, the Mughrabi wall, and the Buraq Square are all Islamic endowments, and charged that the Israeli project represents an attack on Islamic endowments and on the region’s residents.

He also stressed that there are no Jewish relics in the region, and that Israel wants to falsify reality and to change the landmarks.

Sheikh Sabri called on UNESCO to take immediate action to protect and preserve the Islamic antiquities.

For his part, head of Religious Endowments Council Sheikh Abdel Azim Salhab pointed out that the excavations taking place in the vicinity of and under Al-Aqsa Mosque have been going on since the beginning of the occupation and will destroy relics from different eras.

Sheikh Salhab stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is in real danger because of the Israeli authorities’ practices and the daily incursions by settlers.

He called on the whole nation to protect the Islamic heritage in the city of Jerusalem, and support the worshipers at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Jerusalem file official, Hatem Abdel Qader, also warned that due to the project of expansion of Strauss Center, the building will be overlooking all around Al-Aqsa Mosque, which constitutes a security threat to the Mosque and the worshipers inside it.

Arab League Slams Canadian, Israeli Ministers' Meeting in East Jerusalem

Picture
The Arab League, in a press statement Sunday, expressed Strong dissatisfaction over Canada’s foreign minister’s meeting with Israel’s justice minister in East Jerusalem and considered it a move to legitimize Israel’s annexation of East Jerusalem.

The Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister, John Baird, met with the Israeli Justice Minister and chief negotiator, Tzipi Livni, in her office at the Justice Ministry in East Jerusalem on Tuesday.

Arab League spokesman Nassif Hitti considered this meeting a flagrant violation of the international law, relevant resolutions of the Security Council, UN General Assembly and Geneva Convention relative to the protection of civilian persons in time of war.

He said that this meeting encourages Israel to continue with its occupying policy and its lack of respect to the international law and relevant international resolutions, as well as obstructs efforts exerted to achieve peace.

Hitti called on Canada to respect the international resolutions as well as the principles and provisions of international law regarding the Palestinian cause to insure security, stability and a comprehensive just peace in the region.

Palestinians condemn Canada FM visit

Picture
File photo shows a meeting between Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird (L) and Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni.

Palestinian officials have condemned a recent visit by Canadian Foreign Minister John Baird to East al-Quds (Jerusalem) where he met with Israeli officials.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erakat said in a Friday statement that "diplomatic recognition of the situation created by the attempted annexation of our capital is a flagrant violation of international law."

Israel occupied and then annexed the West Bank and East al-Quds in the Six-Day War of 1967, but the move has never been recognized by the international community. The Palestinians has named East al-Quds as the capital of their future state.

Erakat went on to say that Ottawa government should “respect and ensure respect for the Fourth Geneva Convention relative to the Protection of Civilian Persons in Time of War... a state which knowingly assists another state in the commission of an internationally wrongful act bears responsibility for the violation."

"Israel's attempted annexation of occupied East Jerusalem (al-Quds) is a blatant breach of international humanitarian law and, more specifically, the laws and customs of war," he said.

Erakat said that Baird's Tuesday meeting with Israeli Justice Minister Tzipi Livni in her department headquarters in East al-Quds "has the effect of attempting to legitimize the illegal situation on the ground and may be deemed as aiding, abetting or otherwise assisting illegal Israeli policies"

Nabil Shaath, the former Palestinian foreign minister, also described the Canadian minister’s controversial visit as “a slap in the face to the Palestinian people" and an "unprecedented recognition of the illegal Israeli annexation of Palestinians' occupied capital."

Shaath said the "unprecedented offense" would cause "severe" damage to the relations between the Palestinians and Canada.

Canada, one of Tel Aviv's staunchest allies, opposed a 2012 successful bid for upgraded status of Palestine at the United Nations.

IOA imposes more restrictions on entry of citizens to Al-Aqsa Mosque

Picture
The Israeli occupation authorities imposed strict restrictions on Friday on the entry of Palestinian citizens to Al-Aqsa Mosque for Friday prayers.

Hundreds of Israeli policemen and border guards were deployed in most parts of the city, especially in the Old City and its surroundings.

They erected barricades and military and police checkpoints on the main gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and checked the identities of worshipers.

The Israeli Supreme Court has refused on Thursday an appeal to cancel the restrictions set by the IOA on the entry of Muslim worshipers under the age of fifty to Al-Aqsa Mosque on Fridays.

Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation forces tightened its military procedures in the vicinity of the Ibrahimi Mosque in al-Khalil.

Eyewitnesses told PIC that the soldiers set up checkpoints on the main streets near the Mosque and checked the identities of some young men who were heading to it.

IOA continues to obliterate Islamic landmarks around Mughrabi Gate

Picture
Al-Aqsa Foundation for Endowment and Heritage said that the occupation authorities have continued the excavations and destruction around the Mughrabi Gate.

The foundation concerned with monitoring the Israeli violations against the Islamic sanctities noted in a press statement on Thursday that the ‘Sharansky Proposal’ and the Israeli government plans in Al-Buraq area "represent part of a comprehensive plan to Judaize the whole area, which includes Al-Mughrabi Gate and Al-Buraq Wall.

“Both places form an integral part of the Islamic heritage in the area ... they were forcefully seized by the Israeli occupation authority, which has been destroying and judaizing them. However, their Islamic identity cannot be changed with time.” Al-Aqsa Foundation said.

It said that it has recently monitored acceleration in the excavations and destruction around the Mughrabi Gate, and charged that the occupation has been creating empty spaces underground for building synagogues that will be linked to the rest of the Buraq Square.

The Foundation called for unifying the Islamic and Arab efforts to confront the IOA and stop its dangerous attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and the city of Jerusalem.

For his part, Dr. Ismail Radwan, Minister of Endowments and Religious Affairs in Gaza, warned that Al-Aqsa Mosque had entered a very critical stage, in light of the escalating Israeli Judaization schemes.

Dr. Radwan said in a statement on Thursday that the IOA has continued the construction works in the project of "Beit Strauss" in Al-Buraq Square, western Al-Aqsa Mosque, after it had demolished facades of ancient buildings belonging to the Islamic endowments, nearly a month ago.

He pointed out that the excavations aim to implement big Judaization schemes and to drastically change the Buraq Square.

The Minister demanded the Arab and Islamic nations, the Arab League, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Islamic organizations and the nation's scholars to take serious action to stop the Israeli practices against the Islamic holy sites.

Haneyya stresses commitment towards prisoners and al-Aqsa

Picture
The Palestinian Prime Minister Ismail Haneyya stressed his government and Hamas movement's keenness on to liberating all Palestinian prisoners and al-Aqsa mosque from the Israeli occupation.

During the Hamas women movement festival on Thursday evening, Haneyya stressed that the prisoners' issue is on the top of the Palestinian priorities in light of the Israeli brutal and criminal campaign against those prisoners, condemning the Arab and international silence towards the continued Israeli sadism.

He stated that his government and Hamas movement cannot keep silent towards the Israeli crimes against the prisoners, praising the efforts that led to the freedom of prisoners in Wafa al-Ahrar exchange deal.

Regarding Jerusalem, the Prime Minister stressed its holiness in the Islamic creed, and pointed to the Israeli serious attacks on Jerusalem that aim to Judaize it and to impose full over control it.

Regarding the American visits to the region, he charged that these suspicious visits aim to resume the settlement process at the expense of the Palestinian reconciliation and constants.

Haneyya warned of American attempts to re-arrange the Middle East in a way that would ensure retaining the “Zionist entity” as an integrated member in the region even after the Arab Spring that toppled all regimes, which were allied with Israel.

Picture
Sheikh Kamal Al-Khatib, deputy head of Islamic Movement in the Palestinian 1948-occupied territories, stressed that Al-Aqsa Mosque is in grave danger, in light of the escalated settlers' raids inside it.

Sheikh Al-Khatib called on the Jerusalemites and the 48-Palestinians to confront the settlers' incursions and the Israeli plans that aim to divide Al-Aqsa Mosque, by intensifying their presence inside it.

He also condemned the security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation, pointing out that it has encouraged the Israelis' hostile practices.

Aqsa slams provocative Jewish marches in O. J'lem

Picture
The Aqsa foundation for endowment and heritage denounced the provocative marches that were held on Tuesday evening by dozens of extremist Jewish settlers in occupied Jerusalem.

In a press release on Wednesday, the Aqsa foundation said that the settlers participated in the monthly marches that are staged by Jewish groups advocating the demolition of the Aqsa Mosque to build the alleged temple of Jews.

It added that the settlers marched across the streets and alleys of the Old City of Jerusalem and past the gates of the Aqsa Mosque, and chanted slogans claiming the Aqsa Mosque as their alleged temple.

The Israeli police also closed the main streets to protect the Jewish marches and prevent any clashes with the Arab natives.

The foundation underlined that all Jewish attempts to promote the lie of the alleged temple at the expense of the Aqsa Mosque would be doomed to failure and would not undermine the historical truth that the Aqsa Mosque and Jerusalem belong to Arabs and Muslims.

Israeli plan to expand the Buraq Wall plaza

Picture
Hebrew newspaper Yediot Ahronot revealed on Wednesday a new scheme that aims to expand the area of the Buraq Wall, adjacent to Al-Aqsa mosque.

The Israeli plan aims to resolve the dispute between ultra-Orthodox Jews and American Jews regarding mixing between women and men in the place.

The newspaper said the scheme will divide the place into three sections: one for men, the second for women and the third for the mixed public.

The plan was suggested by Jewish Agency Chairman Natan Sharansky, who will present his recommendations to the Israeli Prime Minister within days. It received initial approval by the ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem and the American Jews abroad.

Meanwhile, the Jerusalemites warned of the Israeli persistent excavations in the Buraq Square, carried out in preparations for the construction of the religious center of Beit Strauss.

For his part, Sheikh Mohammed Hussein, the preacher of Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, warned of the seriousness of the excavation work in the Buraq Square.

He added in a press statement that the Buraq Square is part of the Islamic Endowments, which the Israeli occupation authorities have been repeatedly trying to seize.

IOF kidnap three citizens in Abu Dis

Picture
The Israeli occupation forces (IOF) on Tuesday kidnapped three Palestinian citizens from the street near the entrance of Al-Quds university in Abu Dis town east of occupied Jerusalem.

Eyewitnesses reported that a force of Israeli troops stormed the area with three jeeps and embarked on searching all vehicles at the entrance of the university.

During the search, they took three citizens prisoners without giving any the reason.

The eyewitnesses also said that a number of young men in Abu Dis clashed with the troops in the morning without any reported injuries.

In a separate incident, Israeli policemen and other men in civilian attire desecrated the Aqsa Mosque on Tuesday morning and acted suspiciously, some guards of the Mosque told the Palestinian information center (PIC) reporter.

They said that these Israelis entered the minarets of Al-Maghariba Gate and Al-Asbat Gate and embarked on taking pictures.

However, director of the Islamic waqf authority in Jerusalem Sheikh Azzam Al-Khatib prevented them from doing the same thing at the minaret of Al-Gawanema Gate, according to the eyewitnesses.

The guards of the Aqsa Mosque also reported that the Israeli police ordered them to close Al-Hadid Gate at two o'clock afternoon.

Jewish settlers spray racist graffiti on walls of Mosques in Tuku town

Extremist Jewish settlers spray-painted at dawn Sunday racist slurs and threats against the Palestinians on the walls of two Mosques in Tuku town southeast of Bethlehem city. Head of the municipal council in Tuku Tayseer Abu Mufreh reported that settlers from Tuku settlement spray-painted hostile remarks against the Palestinians and David stars on the external wall of the two Mosque.

Abu Mufreh added that the settlers also attacked some property, including two cars, in the town.

The official said the Jewish settlers had threatened three days ago to prevent the Palestinian workmen from entering Tuku settlement and to use force to end retaliatory attacks by Palestinian young men.

The Islamic-Christian Commission denounces settlers' attack on two mosques

The Islamic-Christian commission for the support of Jerusalem and holy sites condemned the Israeli settlers' attack on two Palestinian mosques in Bethlehem. The settlers sprayed hate and racist graffiti on the Salah al-Din al-Ayoubi and Bilal bin Rabah mosques in Tekoa village near Bethlehem.

The commission considered, in a press statement on Sunday, the settlers' attack as "a flagrant violation of the international law, freedom of worship, and the obligations of Israel as the occupying power in Palestine”.

The Islamic-Christian commission charged that the Israeli settlers’ repeated attacks on places of worship in Jerusalem are in violation of heavenly religions and the international laws and norms.

It stressed the need to put an end to the Israeli violations and practices against the Palestinian people, properties, and the Islamic and Christian holy sites.

Nunu calls on the media to support Jerusalem

Picture
Gaza government spokesman Taher Nunu urged the Arab media to support Jerusalem and expose the persistent Israeli violations against it.

This came during Nunu's participation in the workshop "Media professionals and their role towards Jerusalem and Palestine", which took place in the Egyptian capital Cairo.

Nunu asserted that Arab journalists have to support Jerusalem through exposing the occupation’s efforts to Judaize the city as well as Israel's crimes and racist practices against the Jerusalemites that aim to take full control of the city and falsify its history.

"Jerusalem is in real danger," the government spokesman said, calling on the nation to unite in order to save Jerusalem.

Jerusalem on High Alert as West Bank Clashes Continue

Picture
Israeli occupation forces were deployed in Jerusalem, fear of more protests to be erupted in Jerusalem and the West Bank following the weekly Muslim prayers.

The Israeli Police declared Thursday evening that the entry to the Al-Aqsa Mosque will be limited to those over the age of 50 and with Israeli-issued Jerusalem residency cards. There were no restrictions on women.

Heightened security procedures have been imposed on Jerusalem, Israeli forces have been deployed to the Old City, and to Al-Aqsa Mosque's surrounding areas.

It's worth mentioning, that clashes erupted in the West Bank in the past few days following the funerals of 64-year-old Maysara Abu Hamdiyeh, prisoner who died in Israeli Jail on Tuesday and of two teenagers shot dead by Israeli troops in subsequent clashes.

Israeli soldiers fired rubber bullets in the southern city of Hebron after furious crowds lined the streets to pay their respects to Abu Hamdiyeh.

Abu Hamdiyeh, who had served 10 years of a life term, died of throat cancer on Tuesday in hospital, sparking tensions among Palestinians who blamed Israel of medical negligence.

As news of his death spread, protests that erupted in several places quickly turned into clashes with the Israeli Army, notably in Hebron, Abu Hamdiyeh's hometown.

Near the northern village of Anabta close to Tulkarem, the clashes turned deadly on Wednesday, with two teenagers shot dead by troops.

Tony Blair, the envoy of the peacemaking quartet, said on Friday he was "deeply troubled by the loss of life".

"I am concerned about the deteriorating security situation on the ground," he said in a statement. "The situation in the West Bank is very volatile, with emotions running high."

Tafkaji: Israel continues ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem as it did in Galilee

Picture
Khalil Tafakji, director of Mapping and Geographic Information Systems Department of Arab Studies Society in Jerusalem, said that Israel is continuing policy of ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem as it did in Galilee and Negev in 1948.

He told PIC that the policy which has been adopted by Israel against Jerusalem on the 37th anniversary of Land Day represents an extension to the policy of Judaization of the Galilee and Negev that has started since 1948.

Tafakji pointed out that the occupation has continued and stepped up its policy of Judaization in the occupied city of Jerusalem, as it aims to make it its central capital.

He stated that the successive Israeli governments have been spending huge amounts of money to achieve this aim, in addition to the policy of ethnic cleansing, evicting and displacing the residents and replacing the Palestinian population and the legitimate owners of the land in Jerusalem by settlers.

Tafakji has also condemned the absence of an Arab and Palestinian strategy regarding the issue of Jerusalem.
