Media and popular struggle conference
activities were launched in Bethlehem on Tuesday, in cooperation with a
number of European journalists and popular struggle coordination
committees, and will last for a week from now.
A number of international human rights organizations are participating in the event, including Italian, French and Spanish associations. The event is financed by the European Union, according to the Palestinian News Network (PNN).
The conference aims to introduce the Palestinian reality to the European journalists, display and expose Israeli violations and crimes against the Palestinian people.
Munther Ameera, director of the popular struggle higher coordination committee, said that the media was an essential tool which Israel exploited very well to advocate lies and deception to the whole world, through American legislative bills.
And, so, the journalists will tour occupied Palestinian lands threatened with demolitions and displacements, to create awareness of the Palestinian life and to let justice prevail.
The journalists will start in the Jordan Valley with a political, geographic, economic definition of it. The tour will also show how it is being targeted by Israeli forces because of its importance.
The tour will also include trips to South Hebron Hills, including Susiya village, which the Israeli court recently ordered the demolition of to expand the Israeli settlement on its land.
Other villages that are known for popular struggle and resistance, and weekly demonstrations, including Kafr Qaddum, Nabi Saleh and Bil'in will be visited, and the circle will end in Bethlehem refugee camps, including Aida and surrounding villages.
The conference will include workshops, lectures and discussions, ending with recommendations for raising the European awareness of the Palestinian cause.
Popular struggle activist Mahmoud Zawahra said that the message of these workshops was raising the voice of Palestinians to reach out for the world and help to halt the ongoing demolitions, displacements and land theft by Israel, in addition to stopping the daily human rights violations.
Other than that, the experience exchange will enrich Palestinian media to form skills and benefit from internationals, to make it easier to spread.

Hamas Movement declared in a statement issued on Wednesday its total support for the Palestinian people’s protest steps within the Green Line against Israeli demolition policy.
The statement called for “escalating the ongoing protests in face of Israeli criminal policies that aim at liquidating the Arab presence in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948.”
The Movement stressed the importance of such protest steps till putting an end to the Israeli demolition policy against Palestinian homes and properties within the Green Line.

Activists, on Tuesday, have raised the Palestinian flag over an Israeli occupation military camp set in Al-Khader village, south Bethlehem, removing the Israeli flag.
Activist against the Wall and Settlements, Hassan Breijiah told the PNN that the Palestinian flag was raised, and that the Israeli flag was taken down from atop the camp, during an exchange of shifts by Israeli soldiers in the camp.
He added that this site was located within the 1967 occupied territory, which, according to international law, is illegal. He stressed that all settlements and military sites on the occupied lands of 1967 were legitimate targets of popular resistance in all parts of the West Bank.
He additionally pointed out that the spiral strategies of resistance will have low numbers and capabilities, but will make great achievements and effects. "The events will continue in the coming days, to confirm our determination to obtain our rights, which must be guaranteed in the international law."

February 20, 2015, marked the 10th anniversary of the weekly demonstrations against the Israeli Apartheid Wall in the West Bank village of Bil'in.
There have been more than 500 Friday protests since Palestinians, usually accompanied by international and Israeli solidarity activists, began marching towards the barrier that divides their village.
Dozens of participants suffered from tear gas inhalation during the march today after Israeli forces attacked them, just before they arrived to the old route of the wall. The soldiers used jeeps to chase demonstrators towards the village and fired a lot of tear gas canisters and rubber bullets at them. According to the PNN, some members of families who live nearby also suffered from tear gas inhalation.
Despite the cruel weather, a lively demonstration headed from the center of the village to the wall. Participants raised Palestinian flags, banners and pictures of children who are detained in Israeli jails.
Palestinians, international and Israeli solidarity activists chanted slogans calling for the demolition of the wall, freedom for Palestine, and for prisoners in Israeli jails.
A big main demonstration was planned for yesterday's 10th anniversary, but, due to the bad weather, it was postponed till next Friday, February 27, so that everyone will be able to participate.

A number of nonviolent Palestinian activists managed to raise Palestinian flags, on Monday evening, in the Efrat illegal Israeli settlement, built on Palestinian lands south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem.
Coordinator of the Popular Committee against the Wall and Settlements in Bethlehem Hasan Breijiyya said a group of activists managed to enter the illegal settlement through its eastern entrance, and raised Palestinian flags near a number of homes.
Israeli soldiers and police officers then notices the Palestinians, and chased them, but was unable to capture any of them.
Mohammad Mheisin, Coordinator of the Popular Committee in the Southern Part of the West Bank, told the WAFA Palestinian News Agency that the Palestinians will continue their nonviolent resistance activities against Israel’s colonies in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
