IDF War Criminals & Terrorists

Every single Israeli soldier who crosses the border of 1967 is enforcing an illegal occupation, ethnical cleansing, genocide. They are without exception war criminals, and we must never forget their crimes. We must do everything possible to bring them before justice.

Here are some officers of the IDF and other Israeli armed forces who are known to have murdered Palestinians, and contributed to or committed directly or indirectly acts which qualify as crimes of war, crimes against humanity, genocide, ethnic cleansing ...

If you have pictures, documents or other verifiable information of these or other individuals belonging to the IDF which could help in securing arrest warrants against them in any jurisdiction, please contact me.

I hope that these individuals will be on their way to The Hague sooner or later.

NOTICE: Some of these pictures are taken from other websites. These pictures help to identify terrorists of US, German, English, French, etc. nationality who operate in the West Bank under assumed impunity. These pictures belong to their respective owners, and are used here for informative and educational purposes only. I claim no ownership over these pictures. Their use here is strictly non-commercial, and intended to help bring the persons depicted to justice. This applies equally to civilians and IDF military officers.

UPDATE: Some of the individuals listed here were posted by persons unknown to me to the website israeliwarcriminals.zzl.org, which no longer exists. The list was sent me by several readers. Because of their participation in the Gaza massacre of 2008/2009, they are "persons of interest" and thus included here.

Peres, who won the prestigious Nobel Peace Prize in 1994, is widely considered a war criminal for his role in the Kana massacre in Southern Lebanon in 1996.

Then in his capacity as Prime Minister, Peres ordered the Israeli Wehrmacht to bomb Lebanese refugees who had sought refuge at a local United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) base at the village of Kana.

As a result, as many as 110 women and small children were massacred. The scenes at the site were too horrific to be described in words. Indifferent artillery shells decapitated young children. Dismembered bodies were all over the area. TV networks around the world advised parents not to allow their children under 18 to watch the shocking scenes of pornographic killings in order to safeguard their mental sanity and emotional health.

As usual Israel indulged in characteristic stone-walling and sought to escape responsibility, claiming the bombing was done by mistake.

However, a report by the UN a few weeks later squarely blamed Israel for the heinous massacre, stating that the Jewish state carried out the war crime knowingly and deliberately.
None the less, neither Peres nor the Israeli government has ever admitted responsibility nor apologized for the colossal crime.

Instead, Peres became a celebrated figure around the world, with red-carpet receptions accorded to him despite the fact that his hands were thoroughly stained with the blood of hundreds or thousands of innocent Palestinians and Lebanese.

The Kana massacre is by no means the only black spot in Peres' record. The man has always been a war criminal. He will die as an irredeemable criminal then he will rot in hell for eternity.

Peres who introduced nuclear weapons to the Middle East as he played a leading role in secretly purchasing Dimona's nuclear reactor from France in the mid-1960s. Eventually, Israel utilized the enriched uranium produced at that nuclear plant to produce hundreds of nuclear weapons. It is widely believed that Israel possesses 250-300 nuclear bombs and warheads, along with their delivery systems.

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

On 12 July 2006, the suspect ordered the bombing of cities and villages in Lebanon.

The 34-day bombing of residential areas broke international law. The aerial bombing and land assault ordered by the suspect, killed approximately 1,200 people and injured about 4,400.

During the attack, the suspect ordered several thousand cluster bombs to be dropped near residential areas in Lebanon, something forbidden under international conventions.

In total, about a million small bombs were dropped, which led to the post war deaths of 30 people and the injury of 215, including 90 children.

In the summer of 2007, the suspect ordered the blockade of 1.5 million people in Gaza, preventing them from receiving adequate food, water and electricity supplies and medication – all explicitly prohibited under international law.

In December 2008, the suspect ordered an air, land and sea attack on the residents of Gaza, causing the rapid destruction of residential areas and the deaths of 1,300 people - hundreds of them children.

On 10 December 2008, Lebanese lawyers submitted a formal complaint to the International Criminal Court, The Hague, Netherlands, against the suspect and others, on suspicion of war crimes and crimes against humanity for his part in the siege of Gaza.

In March 2009, the suspect will lose his diplomatic immunity.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 60 years old, above average height, balding, with blue eyes and a taste for cigars.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Ehud Barak:

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

In June 2007, the suspect imposed a siege on 1.5 million residents of Gaza. The siege, which is ongoing in 2009, is collective punishment according to International Law. The year and a half long siege caused severe food and fuel shortages, intermittent drinking water and electricity supply, disruption to sewage treatment plants and shortages of medicine and essential medical equipment, affecting the lives of 1.5 million people - a violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention and Rome Statute.

On 27 December 2008, the suspect ordered the aerial bombardment of Gazan population centers. The attacks involved hundreds of fighter jet sorties, dropping hundreds of tons of bombs on Gazan neighborhoods. At least 1,300 people - men, women and children were killed and 5,300 were injured. Schools, hospitals and UN facilities were targeted, medical crews shot at and prevented from evacuating the wounded.

On 10 December 2008, a formal complaint was submitted by Lebanese lawyers to the International Criminal Court in the Hague, Netherlands, against Ehud Barak and four other Israelis: Ehud Olmert, Matan Vilnai, Avi Dichter and Gabi Ashkenazi on the suspicion that they had committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by ordering and maintaining a siege on Gaza.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 65 years old, lower than average height, graying hair, brown eyes, with glasses.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Israeli War Minister, planned Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in order to improve his chances during the next election.

The Israeli war criminal number one, Ehud Barak, stated that the State of Israel bears the responsibility for sending IOF troops on missions in Gaza, as well as for defending civilians, and as such it is obligated to grant its full support to these officers and soldiers who participated in the IOF in Gaza.

Barak said that no harm should come to officers and soldiers as a result of their Commander of the 401st Brigade Colonel Yigal Slovikinvolvement in the operation.

The war criminal Barak ordered the IOF to set up a team of intelligence and legal experts to collect evidence related to operations in Gaza that could be used to defend military commanders against future lawsuits abroad.

Update 20 jan 2017

On the 12th of July 2006, the suspect along with her accomplices ordered the aerial bombardment and artillery assault on residential areas in Lebanon.

For 34 days she authorized troops to make 12,000 aerial sorties, to fire 100,000 artillery shells, damaging 350 schools and destroying 15,000 houses in Lebanon. 130,000 homes were partially damaged.

The attacks destroyed water sources, hospitals, power stations and other infrastructure essential to life. 900,000 people were forced to leave their homes and remain without shelter for many days. Some 1,200 people were killed, and 4,400 were wounded:

approximately 30% of the dead, about 360, were children under the age of 13.

On 27th December 2008, the suspect and her accomplices ordered an aerial, ground and naval attack on densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip.

The attacks again damaged houses, hospitals, schools and infrastructure, and killed more than 1,300 people, including hundreds of children.

20,000 houses were partially destroyed and 50,000 people were made homeless as a result of the suspects orders.

Attacking innocent people, shooting indiscriminately into residential areas, causing injuries, destroying essential infrastructure such as water, electrical plants and hospitals are all prohibited under International law and are war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Description of the suspect: a white woman, 50 years old, above average height, blonde hair.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when she is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Foreign Minister of Israel, who leads the Israeli propaganda to legitimize the massacre and destruction in Gaza, planned and coordinated Operation Cast Lead in Gaza in order to improve her chances during the next elections

The names of many other war criminals from the infantry, tanks, combat engineers, artillery, and intelligence who participated in the war crimes in Gaza are still unknown.

They should not feel safe either. War crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide are proscribed and prosecuted in all countries of the world in one way or other, and there exists no statute of limitations for such crimes.

The protection offered by Mazuz and his cronies is weak, first of all because the fact that such protection is offered is a implicit admission of guilt, and because national and international statutes specifically address the issue of sham proceedings which are instituted to protect the guilty, and because since the Nuremberg proceedings against the German army, following orders is no excuse and does not absolve of culpability.

We and others will continue doing whatever is possible to find out the names of as many of the criminals who participated in Gaza as possible, and any information which will put them behind bars.

British MP: Tzipi Livni is a war criminal, daughter of a terrorist

Picture
When discussing before the House of Commons a change in British law that would ultimately harbor war criminals, MP Gerald Kaufman labeled former Israeli foreign minister Tzipi Livni the daughter of a war criminal and terrorist, adding that she was involved in the bloody Operation Cast Lead against the Gaza Strip and the Freedom Flotilla massacre, among a list of other crimes against the Palestinians.

The British Parliament saw heated debates this week when discussing an amendment to the British law that would empower the Public Prosecutor with the rigth to veto arrest warrants issued against war criminals who set foot on British soil.

Critics of the law change say the bill was designed to permit Israeli war criminals entry to England without fearing prosecution.

Kaufman said that a change in the law would mean scratching out the few punitive measures, thereby allowing Israeli politicians to enter Britian and evade legal prosecution for the crimes of murder and war.

Lawyers, politicians, religious figures, and many others have called on the British government to refrain from passing the amendment.

Israel announced last November it would freeze strategic bilateral dialogue with the UK unless the latter reconsidered its war crime laws. Shortly after, British Foreign Minister Wiliam Hague said his country would amend a law that currently allows the state to prosecute foreigners accused of humanitarian and war crimes.

Livni: Only Jews Have Right to Self-Determination in Israel

Israeli Former Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni has claimed that only Jews have the national right for self-determination in Israel.

Livni, whose Hatnuah faction forms part of the opposition Zionist camp, made the remarks as part of ongoing discussions in the Knesset about the exact nature of a proposed “nation-state bill,” which seeks to consolidate the state of Israel’s nature as a “Jewish” state.

According to a report in the Jerusalem Post, a number of Israeli parliamentarians – including Livni – are concerned that the proposed legislation will not mention “equality.”

The demand is opposed by others, including influential figures such as Likud member and coalition chair David Bitan.

According to Days of Palestine, Livni was quoted in the article as demanding that legislators “take the Declaration of Independence and write simply that Israel is the state of the Jewish people in which there is equality for all.”

She added: “A state in which only the Jewish people have the national right for self-determination and there is equality.”

Many Palestinian citizens of Israel, who have always faced institutional discrimination, argue that real equality is impossible so long as Israel is defined as a “Jewish state” rather than a state of all its citizens.

Israel’s Declaration of Independence announces the establishment of a “Jewish state,” but does not mention “democracy” once. The right to equality is not currently enshrined in Israeli law.

In 2008, Livni told Tel Aviv school students that “once a Palestinian state is established,” she can turn around and tell Palestinian citizens of Israel: “the national solution for you is elsewhere.”

a.k.a. Igal Sharon, a.k.a. Yigal Sharon.

Sharon was born in Tal-Aviv. He is divorced and he lives with his dog in a small apartment in Beniaeh Hanoa'ah Street near Dizengoff Center in Tel Aviv.

Sharon supported and covered up grave crimes in Hebron. He implemented the illegitimate racist and inhuman laws of the British Mandate which ended on 15 May 1948. As a military commander, “Sharon” participated in and committed crimes against Humanity, Genocide, and Crimes of War against the civilian populations of Hebron.

For the time between 1997 and 2000, Sharon was appointed as military commander of Hebron.

On 10 March 1998, under Igal Sharon's command, the IDF opened fire from three meters distance at Palestinian civilian workers cars near the Tarqumia checkpoint. They murdered three workers and injured another 17 civilians. The workers who were murdered:

[*] Muhammad Al-Sharawneh, the taxi driver.
[*] Adnan Al-Sharhah, 36 years old, married and a father of nine children.
[*] Galeb Al-Rojub, 35 years old, married and a father of five children.
[*] Oqab Al-Sayyed Ahmad was shot twice but survived.

Other 17 civilians were injured in the same terrorist crime.

[*] Samer Karameh, age of 13, was murdered, on March 17, 1998, after being shot in the head by Colonel Yigal soldiers in Hebron.
On 14 May 1998, IDF soldiers under Sharon's command opened fire at a peace demonstration in the center of Hebron. They murdered two Palestinians and injured 45.

On 10 Sep 1998, he led the military operation in which IDF soldiers assassinated the two brothers Imad and Adel Awad Allah. Sharon kept their bodies and hid them in numbered graves in a cemetery where the IDF buries Palestinians who they murder. Sharon is involved in the abduction and murder of two brothers, Emad and Adel Awadallah at the farm of Akram Maswadeh near Hebron. Their bodies were never recovered, and it is suspected that their organs were stolen and sold.

Under Sharon's command, the IDF shot the Palestinians journalists Wael Al-Shukhi, Hosam Abu Allan in their heads, and an Israeli journalist from the Ma'ariv newspaper.

During the command of Sharon, he demanded Itzik Moshe Ya'alon from the Central Command to issue several military orders to occupy the rooftops of Palestinian houses in Hebron. Among them, the houses of Dr. Tayser Zahdeh and the families Abu Munshar and Hashem Al-Azzeh.

Under the command of Ygal Sharon the IDF shot and arrested many children. Majdi Al-Muhtaseb of age 9 was shot after he refused to give his football to an IDF soldier.

On 16 June 1999 Majdi Al-Hashim of age 9 was shot by Ygal Sharon's soldier in Al-Shalaleh Street.

On 20 April 1998, Sharon made a deal with the settlers from Hebron to confiscate the lands of farmers near the village of Yatta, and to destroy their caves and their wells.

During his tenure as military commander of Hebron, the Jewish settler Shlomo Alkobi murdered the Palestinian Asem Rashad Arafeh of age 23. Sharon's soldiers shot 96 peace demonstrators during the funeral of Arafeh, among them Palestinian police officers.

Ygal Sharon was generally known as a homosexual among the paratroopers stationed in Hebron. The settlers used to make fun about him and call him a "womanizer".

Under the command of Sharon, the sexual harassment by soldiers of the IDF against Palestinian women in Hebron increased dramatically. My neighbor Nezeeha Abu Dahoud is one example. She was harassed by soldiers under the command of Sharon, who entered the bedroom of Nazeeha and her husband insulting them. When the husband tried to protect her, they beat him savagely.

Sharon appears in my film "Hebron, City without Mercy" where his soldiers force Palestinian civilians to drink urine. The film was used by the Israel military to teach their soldiers how to not be caught on camera.

According to credible reports of persons who knew him personally, Ygal Sharon consumed drugs and was often drugged while on duty.

Ygal Sharon is a former commander of the IDF paratroopers. In 2000 he was discharged at the rank of colonel as a commander of the IDF in Hebron.

According to a CV which he has put on the net, Sharon later studied history at The Tel Aviv University and he got a BA. He also studied social sciences at Haifa University, and he studied Law at Herzeliya IDC, at Radzyner School of Law.

As of 2007 Yigal Sharon was an attorney with the firm of Goldman, Erlich, Gever, Edelstein, and Co. He specializes in contract litigation and real estate. On 16.12.07 Yigal Sharon was appointed as the coordinator for foreign expansion of an Israeli coffee company, "Aroma".

Amir Peretz:

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

On 12 July 2006, the suspect ordered the aerial bombardment of villages and cities in Lebanon, targeting essential infrastructure, such as water, food, fuel and electricity supplies.

The bombing also damaged hospitals, clinics and schools - all places expressly prohibited from attack under international law.

As a result of the bombing, ground assault and artillery fire, more than 1,200 people were killed including hundreds of children and elderly people.

On 8th November 2006, the suspect ordered the shelling of Beit Hanoun, a neighborhood in Gaza, in response to rockets fired toward Israel. For 15 minutes, residential neighborhoods were shelled, resulting in the deaths of 19 people, including 9 children. At least 40 people were injured.

Firing shells deliberately and indiscriminately into civilian areas constitutes a war crime.

In August 2006, an official complaint was filed to the High Court in Morocco on the suspicion Peretz had committed war crimes and crimes against humanity. The suspect holds Moroccan citizenship.

The complaint was filed by 3 Moroccan Jews, all renowned for their human rights work.

Description of the suspect: an olive-skinned man, about 60 years old, black hair, brown eyes, with a moustache.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Shaul Mofaz

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

Between, October 2000 and June 2002 the suspect ordered a series of actions against the Palestinian people, which included assassinations, torture, house demolitions and the deportation of civilians.

In early 2001, the suspect, as Chief of Staff ordered the Israeli army to kill 70 armed Palestinians per day.

On 29th March 2002 and for 6 weeks after, the suspect was in charge of a military operation called "Operation Defensive Shield" in which, according to the Red Crescent, the army killed 216 Palestinians and wounded 416.

The operation involved the widespread destruction of homes, the denial of medical treatment for the wounded, especially in two Palestinian cities, Jenin and Nablus. These actions are classifiable as war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The suspect continued these activities even after being appointed Israeli Defense Minister up to 2006.

In 2002, a British lawyer presented a file to the UK Director of Public Prosecutions asking for the suspect to be investigated for war crimes such as targeted assassinations and the demolition of Palestinian homes.

The suspect left the UK quickly upon hearing a file had been presented.

Description of the suspect: an olive-skinned man, about 60 years old, of below average height, clean-shaven.

The suspect is armed and may be dangerous.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Candidate who wants Olmert's job once 'sought deaths of 70 Palestinians a day'

A leading candidate to be Israel's next premier called for a death toll of 70 Palestinians a day when he was head of the military during the second intifada, according to a best-selling book by two Israeli journalists.

The account of a briefing given in May 2001 to senior West Bank army commanders reinforces the image of hawkishness enjoyed by Shaul Mofaz.

He has emerged as the main rival to the Foreign Minister, Tzipi Livni, for the leadership of the Kadima party being vacated by Ehud Olmert.

Mr Mofaz is expected to stress his security credentials as a former chief of staff and defence minister in his campaign to defeat Ms Livni, the most popular among the Israeli public of the candidates to succeed Mr Olmert as party leader.

According to the book Boomerang, by Ofer Shelah, of Yedhiot Ahronot, and Raviv Drucker, of Channel Ten, Mr Mofaz convened a meeting of brigade and regimental commanders covering the occupied West Bank at Jerusalem's Ammunition Hill. It occurred early in the premiership of Ariel Sharon when the intifada was well under way.

The book, which was well reviewed, and was based on extensive interviews with officials and documentary research, chiefly made news when it was published in 2005 because of its contention that Mr Sharon had, in large part, dismantled the Jewish settlements in Gaza to deflect the threat of a corruption indictment.

The two prominent journalists say in the book that the chief of staff at one stage of the Jerusalem meeting – "in an exceptional act" – ordered the person customarily responsible for recording the pronouncements of the military's top officer on such occasions to stop doing so.

The general then warned, says the book, without placing his remarks in direct quotes, that there would be "no more messages to the Palestinian Authority so that it will act". The authors say that Mr Mofaz instead laid down that they call "a price to be set exactly".

The authors say that he said he wanted "10 slain Palestinians" in each territorial brigade area.

The book goes on to record that one senior officer then whispered to the Central Command commander, Yitzhak Eitan, that he would be well advised to ask for such an order in writing and added: "It comes to 70 killed a day".

It then says that General Eitan convened the same group of officers the following day and "made clear that what Mofaz said [was] not to be understood as an order and should not be treated as a directive for action."

But it adds that one officer, the brigade commander in the Hebron area, Colonel Yehuda Albek, "preferred the Mofaz version" to that of General Eitan.

The next day, he began an action near Dahariya against Palestinian police "who had not committed any hostile acts". A policeman was killed and several wounded. When the colonel was summoned to command HQ to explain the operation to his concerned superiors, he said that it was in line with the remarks made earlier by the chief of staff, says the book.

There was no immediate response from Mr Mofaz's office yesterday to inquiries about the book's account.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu, leader of the right-wing Likud, called for an immediate election, which the polls show he would win. "It doesn't make any difference who heads Kadima. They are all party to a string of failures by this government," he said.

Mr Netanyahu could get his way if the victor of the Kadima leadership contest fails to form a workable coalition to stay in office. In that case elections could be called for early next year – with the possibility that Mr Olmert could remain as caretaker prime minister until then.

Gabi Ashkenazi:

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

On 27th December 2008, the suspect, as Chief of Staff, ordered the Israeli army to attack densely populated areas in the Gaza Strip.

For three weeks, 1,500 tons of bombs were dropped from the air on residential neighborhoods in Gaza and tens of thousands of artillery shells were fired from tanks.

For 3 weeks, the army damaged and destroyed houses, schools, hospitals, infrastructure, water and electrical plants, killed more than 1,300 people, hundreds of them children, and injured about 5,300 people.

Thousands of houses were bombed or shelled and 50,000 residents were made homeless, without shelter.

Prior to this, the suspect was part of a group, which implemented a siege on 1.5 million people in the Gaza Strip, denying them a regular supply of food, water, medicine, fuel and electricity for 18 months.

According to international law, it is absolutely prohibited to bomb residential areas in a way that interrupts the lives of civilians; to carry out executions without trial, to collectively punish; to destroy or damage hospitals, schools and homes.

The prohibitions against collective punishment were enshrined in the Geneva Conventions after the behavior of the Nazis in Europe during World War II when they destroyed entire villages to punish residents for sheltering the resistance.

194 countries agree with the prohibitions of the Fourth Geneva Convention.

In December 2008, a complaint was filed in the Hague against the suspect, on suspicion that he had committed war crimes and crimes against humanity for ordering the siege of Gaza.

Description of the suspect: male, about 55 years old, black hair, olive skin above average height. The suspect is armed and could be dangerous.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

On 18th April 1996, IDF troops fired 38 artillery shells measuring 155 mm at the UN compound in the village of Qana, Lebanon where 800 refugees were sheltering.

They had fled their homes due to Operation Grapes of Wrath.

The IDF attack was in response to Hezbollah fighters launching rockets at IDF forces from a place a few hundred meters from the compound.

The IDF shelling killed 106 people and left dozens of survivors injured.

During this time, the suspect was head of Israeli army intelligence, and together with others, was responsible for the shelling. Firing at a compound where civilians are sheltering from fighting is considered a war crime under international law.

On 22 July 2002, as head of the Israeli army, the suspect ordered a one-ton bomb to be dropped on a house in Rafah, Gaza, in order to assassinate Salah Shehadeh.

The bomb caused the deaths of 15 people including 9 children, and injured dozens more. Bombing neighborhoods where civilians live is forbidden under international law and is considered to be a war crime.

In November 2005, relatives of those killed in Kafr Qana filed a civil law suit against the suspect in a Washington DC court. The suspect was handed a subpoena whilst he was visiting Washington, but he refused to take it and left quickly after.

In December 2006, while the suspect was making a private visit to New Zealand, a lawsuit was submitted to a New Zealand court, regarding the suspect’s part in the assassination of Shehadeh.

An Aukland district judge ordered his arrest.

Pressure was however placed on the Attorney General by the Ministry of Justice to cancel the warrant.

In July 2008, the suspect’s name was included in a list submitted to a Spanish court for investigations into war crimes. The court has issued warrant for his arrest. Spain has an extradition agreement with all the countries in the European Union.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 60, large build, above average height, brown hair, wearing glasses.

2 june 2016 Israel’s Future is Terrifying: Moshe Ya’alon and Israel’s Disconcerting ‘Morality’

By Ramzy Baroud

Israeli society is constantly swerving to the Right and, by doing so, the country’s entire political paradigm is redefined regularly. Israel is now ‘ruled by the most extreme rightwing government in its history’ has grown from being an informed assessment to a dull cliché over the course of only a few years.

In fact, that exact line was used in May 2015, when rightwing Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, formed his thin majority government of like-minded right-wingers, religious zealots and ultra-nationalists. The same sentiment, with almost the exact wording, is being infused again, as Netanyahu has expanded his coalition by bringing to the fold the ultra-nationalist, Avigdor Lieberman.

As of Wednesday May 25, Lieberman has also become Israel’s Defense Minister. Considering Lieberman’s rowdy and violent politics as demonstrated in his two terms as Foreign Minister (from 2009 to 2012 and, again, from 2013 to 2015), being a Defense Minister in Israel’s ‘most extreme rightwing government in history’ harbors all kind of terrifying prospects.

While many commentators rightly pointed to Lieberman’s past provocations and wild statements – for example, his 2015 statement threatening to behead Palestinian citizens of Israel with an axe if they are not fully loyal to Israel; advocating the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian citizens of Israel; his death ultimatum to former Palestinian Prime Minister, Ismail Haniya, and so on – his predecessor, Moshe Ya’alon, was spared much blame.

Worse, the former Defense Minister, Ya’alon, was regarded by some as an example of professionalism and morality. He is ‘well-regarded’, wrote William Booth in the Washington Post, compared to the ‘polarizing maverick’ Lieberman. But ‘well-regarded’ by whom? By Israeli society, the majority of whom support the cold-blooded murder of Palestinians?

Israel has adhered to its own definition of political terminology for a long time. Its early ‘socialism’ was a blend of communal living, facilitated by military onslaught and sustained by colonialism. Its current definition of ‘left’, ‘right’ and ‘center’ are also relative, only unique to Israel itself.
Thanks to Lieberman – the former Russian immigrant, club bouncer-turned-politician who is constantly rallying the roughly one million Israeli Russian Jews around his ever-violent political agenda – Ya’alon is now an example of level-headedness and morality.

Indeed, the quote that has been reproduced numerous times in the media is that of Ya’alon stating the reason behind his resignation is that he has lost confidence in ‘Netanyahu’s decision- making and morals’.

Morals? Let’s examine the evidence.

Ya’alon took part in every major Israeli war since 1973, and his name was later associated with the most atrocious of Israeli wars and massacres, first in Lebanon and, later, in Gaza.

His ‘morality’ never dissuaded him from ordering some of the most unspeakable war crimes carried out against civilians, neither in Qana, Lebanon (1996) nor in Shujaya, Gaza (2014).

Ya’alon refused to cooperate with any international investigation conducted by the UN or any other monitoring group into his violent conduct. In 2005, he was sued in a US court by the survivors of the Qana massacre in which hundreds of civilians and UN peacekeepers were killed and wounded in Israeli military strikes in Lebanon. In that case, neither Israeli nor American morality prevailed, and justice is yet to be delivered.

Ya’alon, who received military training early in his career at the British Army’s Camberley Staff College, continued to rise in rank within the army until 2002 when he was appointed Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces. He was in that post for nearly three years, as a result of which he ordered the assassination of hundreds of Palestinians and oversaw various massacres that were carried out by the Israeli army during the Second Intifada.

His post was terminated by the then Defense Minister, Shaul Mofaz, in 2005. In this case, too, it was immorality, not morality, that played a role in the conflict between him and his superiors. Ya’alon was – and remains – an ardent advocate for the illegal colonialization of Palestinian land. In 2005, he vehemently rejected the so-called redeployment from the Gaza Strip, in which a few thousands illegal settlers were relocated to Jewish colonies in the West Bank.

His war crimes caught up with him in New Zealand in 2006 – over the assassination of a Hamas commander, Saleh Shehade, together with 14 members of his family and other civilians. An arrest order was issued but revoked later, under heavy political pressure, allowing Ya’alon to escape the country.

He returned to the helm of the army in 2013, just in time to carry out the devastating war on Gaza in 2014, which killed 2,257 Palestinians in 51 days. The UN monitoring group, OCHA, estimated that over 70 percent of those killed were civilians, including 563 children.

The destruction of Shujaya, in particular, was a calculated strategy devised by Ya’alon himself. In a July 2013 meeting with UN Secretary-General, Ban-Ki-Moon, Ya’alon informed the UN chief that he would bomb the entire neighborhood in case of war. He did.

In May 2015, he was still unrepentant.  Speaking at a conference in Jerusalem, he threatened to kill civilians in case of another war on Lebanon. “We are going to hurt Lebanese civilians to include kids of the family,” he said.

“We went through a very long deep discussion. We did it then, we did it in (the) Gaza Strip, we are going to do it in any round of hostilities in the future,” he said. He also spoke implicitly of dropping a nuclear bomb on Iran.

He repeatedly gave the Israeli Occupation army the green light to carry out ‘shoot to kill’ policy against Palestinians to fight rising ‘tension’ in the Occupied Territories.

These are the words of Ya’alon during a visit to a military base in Gush Etzion in November 2014:

“It must be clear that anyone who comes to kill Jews must be eliminated. Any terrorist who raises a gun, knife or rock, tries to run over or otherwise attack Jews, must be put to death.”

Hundreds of Palestinians have been killed in recent months in Occupied East Jerusalem and the West Bank. Many of those killed are stone-throwing children who are facing Israeli army vehicles along with thousands of trigger-happy Jewish settlers.

In his first public remarks since his resignation, Ya’alon accused a ‘vocal minority’ in Israel of targeting the country’s “basic values”, stating that the country’s “moral compass” has been lost.

The odd thing is that many Israelis agree with Ya’alon. They see the man who has been accused of carrying out war crimes for most of his career as an example of morality and basic values.

While Lieberman has demonstrated to be a loose cannon and a political liability, Ya’alon has openly spoken of targeting children and repeatedly lived up to his promises.

When the likes of Ya’alon, a man with a blood-stained record becomes the face of morality in Israel, once can understand why the future of that country brings little hope, especially now that Lieberman has brought his Israel Our Home Party to Netanyahu’s terrifying nest of political parties.

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

In July 2007, the suspect along with his accomplices ordered a siege on 1.5 million people in Gaza.

The siege caused severe deprivation by preventing the regular supply of food, water, gas, electricity, and medication to the residents living there.

The siege lasted for 18 months, is still ongoing, and included a naval, air and land blockade.

In February 2008, the suspect said on Israeli army radio "the more the Qassam rocket fire intensifies and the rockets reach a longer range, (the Palestinians) will bring upon themselves a holocaust."

Indeed on 27th December 2008, the suspect as Deputy Defense Minister, was part of a cabinet decision which ordered air, naval and ground attacks on densely populated areas in Gaza - attacks that lasted for about 3 weeks.

As a result of the attacks, entire buildings collapsed on residents and infants were found starving next to their dead parents.

Wounded people were buried under rubble for many days because IDF soldiers prevented medics from reaching them. (According to reports by the Red Cross.)

Some 1,300 people were killed, hundreds of them children. 5,300 were wounded.

The air force bombs and tank shells hit hospitals, clinics, schools, infrastructure, UN buildings, electricity and water sources - leaving hundreds of thousands without the necessities for life.

In December 2008, a lawsuit was filed against the suspect in the International Criminal Court, The Hague on suspicion that the siege of Gaza breached international law and was thus a war crime and crime against humanity.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 65 years old, shaven head, above average height.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

In July 2008, a claim was filed against the suspect in the High Court in Spain on suspicion that he was involved in war crimes and crimes against humanity for ordering a one ton bomb to be dropped on a house in Gaza, which caused the deaths of 15 people including 9 children (July 2002).

Bombing residential areas is collective punishment and constitutes a war crime.

Extra judicial executions are prohibited under international law and since July 2002 are prosecutable in the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands.

Description of the suspect: a white man, 55 years of age, of average height, white hair.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Dan Halutz

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

On 12 July 2006, the suspect, as Chief of Staff, ordered air strikes on villages and cities in Lebanon, causing destruction and killing for 34 days. This is prohibited under international law.

Following the air strikes, which destroyed infrastructure and necessities for human life, nearly 900,000 people were forced to leave their homes or remain without shelter for weeks.

Despite this, the suspect continued to order his pilots to bombard Lebanon repeatedly, wiping out entire neighborhoods.

4 years earlier, in July 2002, the suspect ordered a one-ton bomb to be dropped on a house in Rafah, Gaza, causing the deaths of 15 people including 9 children, and injuring dozens more.

In July 2008, after collecting evidence, testimony and documents, a complaint was submitted to the High Court of Spain on suspicion that Halutz had committed a war crime by ordering a one-ton bomb to be dropped on a house in Gaza.

The court has issued a warrant for his arrest.

Description of the suspect: an olive-skinned man about 60 years old, of average height, graying hair, wearing glasses.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

WAR CRIMES AND CRIMES AGAINST HUMANITY

On 10 January 2002, as head of the Southern Command, the suspect ordered the demolition of 59 houses in Rafah, occupied Gaza, an act that is considered to be collective punishment under international law and therefore prohibited.

On 22 July 2002, the suspect was part of a group which ordered a one-ton bomb to be dropped on a house in Gaza to eliminate the Palestinian Salah Shehadeh. The explosion killed 15 people, including 9 children. Dozens of people were injured.

The demolition of homes, the expulsion of residents, the bombing of residential areas, the killing of innocent civilians as a policy of occupation are considered violations of International law and classed as war crimes.

In 2005, a British court issued a warrant to arrest the suspect, however he evaded capture.

In July 2008, the High Court of Spain issued a second warrant to arrest the suspect for his part in bombing the house in Gaza. Spain has extradition treaties with other EU countries.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 65 years old, above average height, short graying hair, blue eyes. Also goes by his previous name Doron Avrutzki. Was seen recently in a company which invests money in the Israeli weapons industry - Athlone Global Security.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.

Doron Almog

Born 1951.

Almog had a son, Eran, who was born brain-damaged. Eran lived in a home for the disabled in Aleh in Israel. He passed away in February 2007.

He lead the campaign to murder the Palestinians responsible for the attentate of the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972. This is significant because it has been revealed that this attentate was a Mossad operation intended to change the public opinion in favour of Israel, and that the Palestinians who carried it out were collaborators. There are many incongruences in the official story of this attentate.

Almog served as a commander of a Paratroopers Company in the Sinai, and he lead numerous battles against the Egyptian army. During these campaigns he was responsible for the murder of Egyptian war prisoners.

In 1983-1985, General Almog participated in operations which brought approximately 6.000 foreigners from Ethiopia to steal the Palestinian lands. There is great doubt among the Rabbinate whether these Ethiopians are actually Jews. In his most recent post as the head of the IDF Southern Command from 2000-2003, he was responsible for thousands of assassinations in the West Bank and Gaza.

General Doron Almog ordered the destruction of fifty nine civilian homes in reprisal for the deaths of Israeli soldiers.

Almog has overall responsibility for Israeli the operations and all the crimes against the civilians in the Gaza Strip.

On September 10, 2005, as he arrived in London, he did not exit the airplane and he was forced to flee Britain, because a British lawyer, Daniel Machover, acting for the human rights organization "Lawyers for Palestinian Human Rights" filed a criminal complaint against Almog for crimes against humanity. Almog learned from the Israeli consulate that a warrant had been issued for his arrest for violating the Geneva Conventions in connection with the destruction of homes in Gaza.

The facts: On 12th July 2006, the suspect was head of the Israeli Air Force and therefore responsible for thousands of fighter jet sorties, which bombed residential areas in Lebanon.

The bombings, using hundreds of tons of explosives, damaged more than 100,000 homes.

The Air Force, under his command, deliberately targeted water sources and electrical power stations, and wrecked schools, hospitals and clinics.

The air strikes killed hundreds of people and caused hundreds of thousands to flee their homes, becoming refugees without shelter.

The deliberate bombing of residential neighborhoods, as well as the deliberate destruction of houses, water and electricity plants, and essential civilian infrastructure is strictly prohibited under international law. Whoever violates these laws is considered to be a war criminal and guilty of crimes against humanity.

Collective punishment and extra judicial executions are all forbidden under the Fourth Geneva Convention and violations can be heard before the International Criminal Court, The Hague, Netherlands.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 50 years old, above average height, ginger hair, wearing glasses.

From 1995-1996, the suspect was head of the Israeli Internal Security services, also known as the Shabak (GSS).

In this capacity, he ordered the torture of Palestinian detainees – an activity prohibited under international law and classed as a crime against humanity.

Torture usually included: tying a person in painful positions continuously for hours, sometimes days; tying a noxious smelling hood over the person’s head, "shaking" the person; depriving the person of sleep and food; exposing him or her to freezing or high temperatures, chaining him or her to a small chair in a way designed to induce pain, playing loud music for hours, and isolating the person from the outside world, sometimes for months.

According to interviews the suspect gave to various media after the end of his service, the suspect was personally involved in about 100 cases of torture of Palestinian prisoners, some of whom were released without any trial.

In those interviews, the suspect said he supported torture and even called on the Israeli government and Supreme Court to continue the policy of torture. This is forbidden.

Several human rights organizations in Israel and abroad, including Amnesty International, hold testimonies given by hundreds of Palestinians who were severely torture (out of thousand who were tortured but have not given testimonies).

The tortures were carried out during the time that the suspect was head of the Shabak.

In August 2001, a complaint about the suspect’s involvement in torture was made in Denmark by a group of lawyers for human rights and a group of Palestinians who had received asylum there. The complaint was rejected because the suspect had diplomatic immunity at the time since he was acting as the ambassador for Israel in Denmark.

Description of the suspect: a white man, about 60 years old, wearing glasses.

Anyone who has information about the suspect when he is outside of the Israeli borders, please report immediately to a human rights lawyer. Relevant for countries with universal jurisdiction.
